Infinity Ward Squashes Call of Duty Subscription Service Rumors...Kind Of

The annual Call of Duty release for 2012 is in stores as of this week, but that hasn't stopped one unnamed source from spilling some details about the 2013 edition of Activision's popular FPS. Take all of this with the caveat that it might be completely false, but a source tells Siliconera that "Call of Duty 2013" continues the Modern Warfare story arc.

The source also reveals that the next COD protagonist is "a battle hardened veteran in his mid-thirties with a nihilistic point of view." I hear from my own (completely nonexistent and fabricated) sources that the game will also feature guns and explosions. A high body count is expected as well. A few other actual details are revealed, including a handful of lines from the script that are appropriately military. No spoilers here. Unless "the next Call of Duty game continues Modern Warfare" counts as a spoiler (hint: it doesn't).

5 Life Lessons We Can Learn From The Walking Dead

The fifth and final episode of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead is set to hit all platforms next week, with the PlayStation Network version arriving on November 20, 2012 and all other platforms (Xbox Live, PC/Mac, iOS) on November 21. The final episode is titled "No Time Left," which should make sense to anyone who made it through the heartbreaking events of the previous episode.

Telltale is currently on pace to deliver a Game of the Year-caliber refresh of the adventure game genre with its heavily character-driven focus and emphasis on building relationships with the rest of your fellow survivors. I can't speak highly enough about what has been accomplished so far, and I've little doubt that the close of this first season of content will deliver as it needs to.

For those who have held off on picking up individual episodes to wait for the inevitable disc-based collection, you'll finally get your chance to see what all the fuss is about when The Walking Dead is released in stores on December 4, 2012.

LittleBigPlanet Karting

Sackboy is not only a great jumper, builder and puzzle solver, he's also a great driver. LittleBigPlanet Karting is a solid racing exerpience. The customization toolest set in LittleBigPlanet Karting may be the deepest user generated racing game ever. If you love to race, you're going to love this.

You can find out more in LittleBigPlanet Karting review.

"For as much as LittleBigPlanet Karting has been pushed as a kart racer, the biggest surprise about thegame is that this is the first title in the series to truly offer 3D space level design and customization. Even if this comes at the expense of the ModNation Racers brand, at least this collaboration makes for an adequate proving ground for more LittleBigPlanet games beyond the 2D plane."

Black Ops 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is here. Unless you live beneath a rock sitting in the corner of a ruined basement in rural Arkansas, you are probably already aware of this fact. What you might not know is that Treyarch implemented some of the biggest changes that the series has seen since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare to every facet of the game. Campaign features an odd sort of branching story, Zombies is set in a newly open world, and multiplayer introduces the new Pick 10 create-a-class framework.

It's the last of those that we're going to zero in on today. The class creation feature that fans have grown to love since the first Modern Warfare is a shadow of its former self, replaced by the arguably more robust and customization-friendly Pick 10. It's fun to play with once you get the hang of how it all works, but there's no clear tutorial within the game that explains it.

This is your tutorial. Read on for a rundown of Pick 10 and how to best take advantage of it!

Grand Theft Auto 5 Official Gameplay Trailer »

Grand Theft Auto 5 has a new trailer, people.  You can see the GTA 5 video above. As you can see, it shows off the three different characters you'll be playing as when the game comes out., and even shows the trio meeting. Judging from the trailer, Rockstar is aiming at a little bit of a lighter tone than Grand Theft Auto 4. It's also got some jaw-lowering action set pieces, fast cars and fast women.

Personally, I loved seeing a rottweiler in the game. Dangerous dogs: CONFIRMED!

Also: In case you're wondering, the amazing song in the soundtrack is "Skeletons" by the great Stevie Wonder.

Capcom's DmC: Devil May Cry is the first big release of 2013, hitting stores on January 15, but you'll be able to sample it for yourself starting next week. The publisher confirms that a playable DmC demo will be coming to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on November 20, 2012.

Those who play the demo will be treated to two missions from the game, though one is described as "a big ol' boss battle." Play through them both to unlock the Son of Sparda difficulty setting. The demo also includes a sampling of the weapons that will be included in the final game, as well as "a couple secrets." Mystery!

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Preview

WARNING: Spoilers follow.

“A man chooses. A slave obeys.”

So said Andrew Ryan, the iconic antagonist of 2007 classic Bioshock, and so changed my perspective on just what it meant to play a video game. With those six simple words, I was led to consider just how much control stemmed from the seemingly misnamed controller I held in my hands.

Sure, I may have been the one doing all the running, jumping, and shooting, but when it came down to why I was actually doing all those things in the first place, the answer was simple: because I was told to. I realized that my in-game freedom had been an illusion—an enjoyable one for sure, but a fallacy nonetheless. Once I entered into the game’s world, I effectively constrained myself to the only paths it had ever provided for me.

Call Of Duty: Blacls Ops 2 Zombie Mode In Nuketown -- There Goes The Neighborhood

Those who step up and purchase a Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Season Pass have an extra bonus to look forward to. Activision confirms that Season Pass holders will receive the Nuketown Zombies map in addition to a full year's worth of planned DLC packs.

The Nuketown Zombies survival map was previously only available to those who pre-ordered a Hardened Edition or Care Package version of the game. Season Pass holders won't receive it immediately, with the plan being to put the map out in December 2012 (on Xbox 360 first). The Black Ops 2 Season Pass is priced at $49.99 and includes four upcoming DLC packs in addition to Nuketown Zombies.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 touches down in stores today, giving fans their first chance to check out the game's theme song, which was co-composed by video game music vet Jack Wall and Nine Inch Nails bossman Trent Reznor. You can give it a listen yourself up top if you haven't had a chance to check it out inside the game yet (via Kotaku).

I'm thinking that those who appreciate Reznor's work as a musician will take to this new track immediately. The piano-heavy instrumental is overflowing with minor keys and big crescendos, and it feels very much like one of Reznor's quieter, more reflective Nine Inch Nails tracks. Even if the game isn't your thing, the music is well worth checking out.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is finally here and in the video below you can catch the first 15 minutes of the highly anticipated first-person shooter. The game opens with a rather emotional scene featuring antagonist Raul Menendez followed by an epic gameplay sequence in Angola with hundreds of soldiers. If you haven't picked up your copy of Black Ops 2 yet, check out what you're missing in the video below.
