In this video from X-Play, Polygon's Michael McWhertor and Gameological Society's Gus Mastrapa give their insight on the rise of social gaming, what the launch of the Wii U will mean for Nintendo, and how Microsoft and Sony are making smart moves when it comes to their online offerings.

In Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, the choice will be yours to decide if you want to use paint to bring things into existence, or thinner to remove things from the world. The concept of paint and thinner is explained in the all new gameplay trailer for Epic Mickey 2 below, which shows Mickey and Oswald using the magical paint brush to access all new areas of the Wasteland, and to bring new characters to life.
Microsoft and Playground Games have an elaborate DLC plan mapped out for Forza Horizon, whether you opted for the $49.99 Season Pass or decided to instead go for a la carte purchases. The latest announcement sketches out a rough plan for Horizon's DLC season, highlighted by the December 18, 2012 release of the Rally Expansion Pack.
The game-expanding content pack will sell for 1,600 MS Points on its own (it also comes free with a Season Pass), adding an as-yet-unspecified number of new cars and events to the mix (along with Achievements). You won't have to wait until Decembre for content drops, however. The game's first "Month One Car Pack" arrives on October 23, adding six new cars to the game for 400 MS Points (or, again, free with the pass).
Expect to see six monthly car packs, each one containing six cars, released from November 2012 to April 2013. Season Pass holders can also look forward to an additional bonus, in the form of one bonus DLC car per month from November to March. Lots of cars. So many cars. Can you possibly drive them all? Have you driven even one yet? The game is awesome; just check out our Forza Horizon review if you don't believe me.
Dance Central 3 offers fresh tracks for players to enjoy and is far more accessible than ever before, at least according to our Dance Central aficionado Dana Leahy. The party game from Harmonix is back with an in-depth campaign mode and additional multiplayer features that will have you tapping your toes to the beat. Here's a snippet from Dana's Dance Central 3 review:
"Keep your fork, there's more! Crew throwdown mode lets up to eight players (two teams of four compete). You rotate through the different players, so everyone gets a chance to participate. Throwdown uses the same multiplayer games from Party mode, but it puts them in a series and crowns a winning crew at the end of the game. It's a more structured, competitive environment, and offers bigger groups a great way to play together. If you have a birthday coming up, I would highly recommend it."

Today Microsoft launches Xbox Music on Xbox 360, the company's brand new all-in-one music service that will also be releasing for Windows 8 devices and PC on October 26.
Xbox Music brings together features that have defined other popular music services such as iTunes, Pandora, and Spotify, and houses them under one cross-platform service that lets users control and access their music wherever they are.
If this sounds like Microsoft is setting its crosshairs firmly on these various industry-leading services, that's because, as Xbox Music general manager Jerry Johnson explained to us during a preview session last week, this is precisely the company's intention.
"This is competitive with iTunes. This is competitive with Spotify. This is competitive with Pandora. And yes we see it as a better consumer experience."

Borderlands 2 Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty DLC Review Verdict: Fight Pirates, Sandworms and Junk Robots
Borderlands 2 DLC: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty Review Verdict
Platform: PS3/Xbox 360
Price: $9.99/MS 800
Ask any gamer what they want out of DLC and they’ll tell you three things – more, more, and more. But there’s a delicate dance that any developer needs to be aware of while making new content. Move too far away from the original formula, and fans will quickly turn on you for not giving them what they want. Make more of the same and the gamers get bored quickly. Gearbox Studios played this game with the first installment of the Borderlands series. The results ranged from the divine (The Secret Armory of General Knoxx) to some better left on the virtual cutting room floor (Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot).
With the release of Borderlands 2 only a couple of weeks in the past, Gearbox Studios sets sails with their new content update in the form of Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty. While not the game changer of Knoxx, the first DLC hits the gates running with plenty of new content and surprises for anyone still hungry for more Borderlands 2 action. If anything, Pirate’s Booty is culmination of many of the lessons learned through the first batch of DLC.

Sega held an event during New York Comic-Con where gamers could see Aliens: Colonial Marines in action. The demo wasn't playable, but based on what we saw, Sega and Gearbox are working on a truly great Alien experience. Adam "The Riveter" Rosenberg does have a few concerns though.
Here's a piece of his Aliens: Colonial Marines preview.
I should have left the preview event raring to see more Aliens: Colonial Marines, but I didn't. I'm worried. There's a talented team at Gearbox Software, and it's clear that they're passionate about delivering a fun, canon-extending game within the Alien universe. That said, they have four months to polish off a game that looks great but feels woefully unfinished. Can it be done? I'll be rooting for them every step of the way, but I've yet to be convinced.
