The Evolution of Gears of War From Gears of War: Judgment Comic-Con 2012 Panel

Gears of War: Judgment has leaked onto torrent sites, and Microsoft responds with the promise to smack down any pirates it finds with a lifetime Xbox Live ban. Reports indicate that the leaked version of Judgment is complete; if the situation pans out like the Halo 4 leak did last year, you might want to avoid YouTube for the next month to steer clear of Judgment spoilers.

Microsoft is already taking action, with a strongly worded statement to Eurogamer warning pirates to watch out. "We are aware of isolated cases in which Gears of War: Judgment content has been propped on the web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation immediately," a company spokesperson said.

"Playing pirated copies of games, such as Gears of War: Judgment, is a violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Use and will result in enforcement action, such as account and console bans." Piracy is bad, you guys. Don't do it. Wait to enjoy Judgment along with everyone else on March 19, 2013.

BioShock Infinite "Columbia, A Modern Day Icarus?-Part 2" Trailer »

Irrational Games has an all-new episode of "Truth From Legend" to share today, the second of what seems to be developing into a mockumentary short series on BioShock Infinite. The format of this latest "episode" is the same, though the subject this time is the captive Elizabeth's guardian, Songbird.

This continues to be one of the cooler examples of Irrational's and 2K Games' ongoing campaign to convince everyone that lightning will strike a second time in this BioShock follow-up. All will be revealed on March 26, 2013 when the game is released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows platforms.

Resident Evil: Revelations "Hunk" Gameplay Trailer »

Capcom has a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming console/PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations. Hunk is the star of this little montage (via All Games Beta), which focuses primarily on gun-pointing and horrific creature-snuffing. That's Resident Evil for you.

From the look of things, Resident Evil: Revelations gets a big visual bump in the move from Nintendo's 3DS to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Windows platforms. That should be great news to fans still smarting from the misstep that was 2012's Resident Evil 6. The console/PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations arrives on May 23, 2013.

Injustice: Gods Among Us "Aquaman" Gameplay Trailer »

The roster of superpowered contenders in NetherRealm's upcoming DC Comics fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, now officially includes Aquaman. Try to contain your laughter. The fish-talking Namor wannabe is hard to take seriously, largely because he talks to fish and wears a ridiculous costume.

The Aquaman reveal trailer above offers a look at how the king of Atlantis factors into Injustice's story. He doesn't seem happy to be dealing with Shazam and the Flash, a disagreement that presumably leads to the surfacing of his undersea army of giant hermit crabs. You also get a first peek at Aquaman kicking tail in the game's fighting environments.

Injustice: Gods Among Us comes to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on April 16, 2013.

Deadpool

Activision's upcoming Deadpool game from High Moon Studios will be coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms sometime during summer 2013. A final date hasn't been announced yet, but a comic book ad spotted by Deadpool Bugle (via Joystiq) confirms the summer window.

We haven't seen much yet from the Deadpool game, though High Moon has proven itself as a reliable developer when it comes to bringing geek-friendly properties into the interactive space. Transformers: War For Cybertron and Fall Of Cybertron were both good-to-strong and the flawed The Bourne Conspiracy at least brought some cool ideas.

It sounds like Deadpool will be embracing a straightforward third-person action focus, though the key to nailing that character coorectly hinges on getting the writing and performance right. Expect to hear more about this one as the trade show season spools up this year.

Crysis 3 "Sharp Dressed Man" Trailer »

This latest 'Sharp Dressed Man' trailer for Crysis 3 (via All Games Beta) goes for cheap laughs, and that's fine. We've heard all we're going to hear by now about the game's play, features, and focus. The only thing left is to show you how badass it can be to run around in a Nanosuit. There's even a moment where Prophet mugs for the camera while a helicopter he shot an explosive arrow into explodes behind him.

Really though, this trailer was a win from the moment that ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man" was chosen to play on top of the footage. Nothing says "holy crap, this guy can kick some tail" more than a blues-rock band filled out by dudes with beards longer than your arm. Crysis 3 comes to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows platforms on February 19, 2013.

Star Trek The Game "Salvation" Gameplay Trailer »

The latest trailer for Star Trek is here! Titled 'Salvation,' this brief look at the game is actually a pretty dynamite assortment of gameplay clips the breathe and bleed Trek (via All Games Beta). You've got phaser blasts flying to and fro, and transporter moment, and Spock's iconic Vulcan Nerve Pinch.

Digital Extremes' Trek game attempts to fill in the narrative gap between J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot and this spring's Star Trek Into Darkness, which hits theaters on May 17, 2013. Star Trek (the game, not the movie) comes to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows platforms just a few weeks earlier, on April 23, 2013.

Tomb Raider "Monastery to Medical Helicopter" Walkthrough Video Part 1 »

Lara Croft isn't going to have an easy time in Tomb Raider, as this new 11-minute clip of gameplay footage demonstrates. She runs, she shoots, she sneaks, she leaps, scales, and shimmies, but she's also slowed down by nagging wounds and susceptible to hazards both natural and human-made.

Watch along above as Lara carves an unlikely -- and partially unintentional -- route down a mountain for herself, transitioning from typical running and platforming to being carried along by a rushing river to a last-minute parachute save. The descent ends up aggravating wounds sustained earlier, leaving the heroine hobbled and cut off from her traversal abilities.

Tomb Raider is shapping up to be quite an intense experience, twisting the core ideas of the series for a much darker and more hopeless adventure. Then again, this is Lara Croft we're talking about. Don't ever count her out. Tomb Raider arrives on March 5, 2013.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen "New Enemies" Gameplay Trailer »

Capcom's latest trailer for Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen shows off some of the expanded game's new monsters in action. The backing voiceover is all in Japanese, but the trailer's gameplay clips speak the universal language of "hey, doesn't this nasty monster-thing look badass?"

There are fire salamanders, hopping maggot-like creatures, a nasty-looking minotaur, a super-sized reaper, and a towering giant that vaguely resembles Soulcalibur's Astaroth. Dark Arisen expands on Capcom's 2012 game with new content and gameplay enhancements that address criticisms directed at the original release.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen arrives on April 23, 2013 as a $39.99 release available at both retail and the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 online stores.

Electronic Arts confirms that an apparent Dead Space 3 glitch allowing for easy resource farming is not a glitch and won't be patched out of the game. The publisher has taken some flak recently for the use of microtransactions in the Visceral Games release that allows players to spend actual dollars on in-game resources. An EA rep notes that resource farming is an intended feature, so there's nothing to fix.

"The resource-earning mechanic in Dead Space 3 is not a glitch. We have no plans to issue a patch to change this aspect of the game," EA's Jino Talens said in a statement to GameFront. "We encourage players to explore the game and discover the areas where resources respawn for free. We’ve deliberately designed Dead Space 3 to allow players to harvest resources by playing through the game."

"For those that wish to accumulate upgrades instantly, we have enabled an optional system for them to buy the resources at a minimal cost ($1-$3)."

Aliens Colonial Marines

The very telling evidence is accurate: Aliens: Colonial Marines will be supported by Gearbox Software with enough post-release content to merit a Season Pass (via Sega Blog). The $30 token will be good for four content packs in all, with the first one -- Bug Hunt -- coming in March 2013. The Season Pass will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC; no mention of Wii U.

Bug Hunt is a Horde-like co-op mode that plays out on three mode-specific maps. There isn't any mention of player count for this mode, but expect it to be four based on the way campaign and the No Escape co-op mode work. Three additional DLC packs will follow Bug Hunt, with the final one to be released by or before August 2013.

Xbox 720 Ad Spotted In Real Steel Trailer

Another day, another reputable media outlet doling out anonymously sourced information about Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor. The next Xbox console will come equipped with speech recognition technology, according to "sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans" speaking to The Verge.

The full extent of the feature isn't known, but it seems that the console will allow for voice activation, "natural language controls," and speech-to-text. The console maker is also reportedly looking into the possibility of having the console detect individuals when they enter a room and offer suggestions based on voice inputs. The report compares this functionality to Apple's Siri.

The rumor comes only a day after Edge's own report that the Xbox 360 successor will require an always-on Internet connection. This would allow Microsoft to block the use of secondhand games, just as rumors have suggested next-gen consoles would do for some time.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge Wii U Release Date Announced

Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge is confirmed for an April 2, 2013 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as both a retail offering and a digital download. The previously Wii U-exclusive launch title will be relatively unchanged when it comes to the new consoles, save for the addition of new costumes for all playable characters.

Ninja Gaiden 3 was a bit of a disaster when it launched on the Microsoft and Sony platforms in the middle of 2012, but Team Ninja rose to the challenge of addressing criticisms for the game's Wii U release. The resulting Razor's Edge is a much stronger game overall, with fundamentally solid fighting mechanics further bolstered by the alteration or outright removal of the more offensive bits. Those who skipped NG3 last year may want to give it another look in April.

Halo 4 Reviewed By Conan O'Brien

Posted February 7, 2013 - By Adam Rosenberg

Conan O'Brien might not love the video games, but that doesn't stop him from reviewing Halo 4. The latest episode of Clueless Gamer sees the late-night funnyman taking on a game that he provided a voice for. That's what we in the press call a "conflict of interest," but Conan gets a pass because he's funny about it.

The highlight of the episode is of course when Conan confronts his in-game self, a guard stationed in a hangar bay with another guard, voiced by late-night cohort Andy Richter. We learn a few things from this encounter. Conan apparently hates himself, but he hates his "friend" Richter even more.

2K Reboots XCOM As First-Person Shooter

That other XCOM game, that one that was originally revealed to be a first-person shooter hybrid, is still in development at 2K Marin following multiple delays and a string of "no comments" concerning its status. The game came up during Take-Two Interactive's latest investor call (via Joystiq), confirming that 2K Marin "continues to make progress" on the game.

It's now looking like the XCOM shooter won't be making its way to gaming platforms until later this year, or perhaps early 2014. The game is on track for a fiscal 2014 release; Take-Two's fiscal year runs from April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014, so that's the window we're looking at. Provided those plans don't change, you can probably expect to hear more about the game during the coming GDC-E3-Gamescom-PAX trade show gauntlet.
