'Bionic Commando' Hands-On Impressions

Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, June 26, 2008 5:35 PM

Capcom was on hand at Microsoft’s Games for Windows event to let the press get their hands on a playable demo of Bionic Commando running on the PC. The game will carry the Games for Windows label and as such, supports the Xbox 360 controller. I recommend using this to play the game if you are planning on the PC version.

The demo contained small pieces of a few levels and was designed to show off a few features of the game.

Hit the jump for my hands-on impressions of Bionic Commando from Capcom.

'Call of Duty: World at War' Impressions & Details

Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, June 26, 2008 2:40 PM

Activision and Treyarch were showing off part of the first mission from the newly announced Call of Duty: World at War at Microsoft's Games for Windows event in San Francisco yesterday.

The game uses the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine and it shows.Treyarch has done a great job utilizing the new engine with some amazing looking art. Not having to build an engine has given them the time they needed to make sure the models, textures, and effects look great in the CoD4 engine.

In the first level, the player finds himself captured by Japanese soldiers on an island facing an imminent execution at the hands of the enemy. The player is free to look around with the mouse while their squadmate’s throat is slit in a brutally great scene.

Just before you are executed, you are saved by the rest of your squad, cut free, handed a gun, and set on a mission of clearing out the Japanese soldiers from a fishing village.

Others are free and clear and this is just one of several posts today, chronicling some the games we were able to demo at EA's E3 2008 preview. Following the success of World of Warcraft and the recently released Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, we will soon see the release of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. This new MMO promises to remove all the "boring stuff" from more traditional MMO's and will allow the player more freedom to do what everybody really wants to do, which is beat the crap out of other players in online.

'Clone Wars' Gets Two New Games

Posted by Ty Colfax - Thursday, June 19, 2008 9:52 AM

The DS and the Wii are going to get new games inspired by the upcoming Clone Wars fictions. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels will feature motion controlled combat. However, "It's not a Lightsaber simulator, but when you swing your Wii remote left to right; your character does the same," said producer Ken Fox.

So, you've given us half of the awesomest gift you could ever give us. Thanks?

The DS game entitled Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance will utilize the stylus for unique attack combinations. There is also apparently a maneuver where two Jedi combine forces and fight as one, although we're not sure what that means.

The movie is out August 15th, with the TV series up in the fall and the games' release dates sometime around Christmas. No word on the KOTOR MMO and LucasArts reps have said there will be no announcements at E3.
