Ni No Kuni

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is the whimsical role-playing game from Studio Ghibli and Level 5 that will truly make you feel as if you're playing through a Hiyao Miyazaki film. In our latest preview of Ni No Kuni, we got to play through the serene "An Errand For Old Father Oak" chapter, in which Drippy and Oliver have to search for and defeat the Guardian of the Woods. Here's a piece:

"In this one-on-one battle, the player must circle and maneuver around the Guardian while also picking up blue and green orbs to replenish magic and health. Because attacking and defending need to recharge after each use, you can also cancel a maneuver in real time to defeat the enemy. Bonuses are also awarded for proper defense, which Drippy is always happy to remind you about."

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 Announced For PS Vita

Team Ninja announced last night that they will be bringing Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 to the PS Vita early in 2013.

The first game in the Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus series did well for Sony in the past, so it makes sense Sony and Team Ninja would bring more Ryu to gamers.

With Ninja Gaiden Clans for the mobile and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge both on their way, are you feeling a Ninja Gaiden overload? Or is Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus 2 exactly the game your PS Vita needed?

Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Nintendo Wii

Vanillaware's gorgeous action side-scroller Muramasa: The Demon Blade is carving its way from the Wii to the PlayStation Vita, with a port due in early 2013 (via Joystiq). It's only confirmed for release in Japan at this point, arriving on March 28, 2013, but this one seems a likely candidate for U.S. release, what with the Wii game being available here already.

Sony revealed the port at its Tokyo Game Show 2012 press conference, adding that fans can expect to enjoy DLC along with the original 2009 release. All of which sounds great, though not great enough to overlook the fact that the Vita's post-launch library of NEW games is still exceedingly small and not growing quickly enough.

Team Ninja Unveils Ayane and Hitomi for Dead or Alive 5; First Impressions

Dead or Alive 5 hits stores on September 25, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but Team Ninja now confirms that PS3 users will have the added option of purchasing the game digitally via PlayStation Network. The news was confirmed by the dev's Yosuke Hayashi at a pre-Tokyo Game Show 2012 party, Polygon reports.

Hayashi also confirmed that Dead or Alive 5 will be available via Microsoft's similar Games On Demand digital distribution service for Xbox 360, though the wait will be a bit longer. No specific date was revealed, but the game should be available for download to your Xbox 360 console three months after the game's launch next week.

Yaiba Is Ninja Gaiden With Zombies

Yaiba Is Ninja Gaiden With Zombies

The full title of Keiji Inafune's upcoming zombie game is Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, the Mega Man and Dead Rising developer confirmed at a pre-Tokyo Game Show 2012 event this week (via Joystiq). While we had already heard about Inafune's plans for a new zombie game, the TGS reveal confirms that it's actually a spin-off of the Ninja Gaiden series.

The game will be developed as a collaborative effort between Team Ninja, Inafune's own Comcept, and Western studio Spark Unlimited, with Tecmo Koei publishing. Little more was revealed, though it's confirmed that the story follows a ninja named Yaiba as he slices through zombie hordes with the ultimate goal of taking down Ryu Hayabusa. Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is currently in development for unspecified consoles.

PS Vita

Sony promised in recent months that PlayStation Plus support would be coming to the PS Vita, and now it's making good. The annual subscription service that was previously exclusive to PlayStation 3 will officially offer subscriber benefits on the handheld starting in November 2012.

Current PS Plus subscribers will be able to take advantage of Vita offers as well and new subscriptions will enjoy benefits on both platforms, a press release confirms. There's no mention yet of what the initial lineup of Instant Game Collection titles will be, but you'll be able to sign up with either a three-month commitment ($17.99) or a full year subscription ($49.99).

New PS3

The PlayStation 3 "Super Slim" has been leaked ahead of its expected reveal at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference. Polish site Polygamia.pl (via TheSixthAxis) reported on a promotional poster they saw for Polish electronics store Media Expert that teased a new Playstation 3 model and a September 28,2012 date.

Sony filed a new PS3 SKU with the FCC back in July, when we first learned of the new PS3 models. Supposedly, there will be two new PS3 models offered: a 12GB and a 500GB, but we don't know their price points yet. We're expecting to learn more about the PS3 super slims during Sony's TGS press conference, but for now Sony hasn't confirmed (or denied) the existence of the consoles.

Be sure to head back to TheFeed for Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference to maybe learn more about this alleged slim PS3, and to find out what else the company is working on. The event starts at 9PM PT on September 18, 2012 and you can head to our Tokyo Game Show site then for all the updates you need.

Sony's Tokyo Game Show press event goes on September 18, 2012 at 9PM PST, and we'll be bringing you all the news from the event.

Sony's presser is the kickoff to Tokyo Game Show 2012. Across the ocean, the Eastern part of the video game world is gathered to play, cosplay, and otherwise get their game on. G4 is on the ground, of course, and while TGS doesn't open officially until Wednesday, our coverage begins with Sony.

We have no idea what Sony plans to talk about during the event. It could focus mainly on Japan-only games, or Sony might throw a curve-ball at everyone and make the first official announcement of the next generation of PlayStation. If you want up to the second news of Sony's press event, you've gotta check back to G4's TheFeed tonight at 9PM PT.
