‘Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles’ Impressions

Resident Evil 6 will probably feature Ada Wong as a playable character. During the QA portion of the RE6 Comic-Con 2012 panel, someone asked if Ada Wong would be playable in the game. The Exec Producer via a translator answered "Would that make you happy?" "I can't answer that now but I might be able to make you happy soon," teasing an upcoming announcement that would confirm Ada.

We already know Ada is in the game, but as of now she's only making an appearance as an NPC. Earlier this month there were reports indicating there may be a 4th campaign. Files uncovered in the Resident Evil 6 demo suggest this campaign will feature Ada Wong.

Hundreds of fans at Comic-Con 2012 lined up in Hall F to wait in line for the chance to go behind the scenes with Naughty Dog's The Last of Us. One of the first pieces of "exclusive behind the scene details" was the introduction of a brand new character, Bill. He is voiced and mocapped, by W. Earl Bron. The Sean Bean look a like named Bill owes Joel a favor, a big favor. He and Ellie need a working car, although he doesn't say why. Bill, who lacks the parts, sends Joel and Ellie on a gather/scavenger quest in Bill's Safe House.

The Enduring Legacy of Sherlock Holmes Elementary Panel Comic-Con 2012:

There are some characters that never die, fictional creations so complex and deep that even hundreds of years aren’t enough to dampen their appeal. One of these is the great Sherlock Holmes. Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary detective originally appeared in 1887, and since then, he’s never really left. In 2012, Holmes and his personal valet Watson are the subject of a series of big budget movies, a successful BBC series, and soon, Elementary, an hour-long fall series on CBS.

CBS hosted a showing of Elementary’s pilot at Comic-Con 2012, and both Holmes and Watson look marvelous, despite their advanced ages. Elementary looks up-to-the-second current, in spite of its wizened protagonists.

This time out, Sherlock is played by Johnny Lee Miller. He lives in modern New York, not Victorian London, and he's a drug addict with a sideline in consulting for the NYPD. While Holmes’ drug-of-choice is not revealed in Elementary’s pilot, the original Holmes, was quite fond of cocaine. Holmes here is a wastrel with a rich family. He's a difficult genius, who's obsessed with solving mysteries and thwarting crimes, although his interpersonal skills need a lot of work.

Looper To Feature Time Travel, Bruce Willis And More From The Comic-Con 2012 Looper Panel

Looper
isn't the biggest blockbuster movie in the Hollywood pipeline, but it's definitely one of the most interesting. I was lucky enough to check out the Looper panel at Comic-Con 2012 and got a sneak peek at some of the scenes from the upcoming movie. The verdict? Very positive.

Looper tells the story of a future world where time travel is used mainly for assassinations. In the future, it's nearly impossible to dispose of a body, so if you want to kill someone, you send him back in time, where a trained assassin, called a Looper, pulls the trigger, and disposes of the body.  That works out great, until a Looper meets his future self, and can't bring himself to pull the trigger.

It's an intricate idea, from the great Rian Johnson, director of the movie Brick, and it stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt and Bruce Willis. Blunt and Gordon-Levitt were on hand at Comic-Con to talk about the movie, as was director Johnson. Sadly, Bruce Willis was shooting another picture.

Sons Of Anarchy Season Five Sneak Preview From The Sons of Anarchy Comic-Con 2012 Panel

Comic-Con closed out its show in 2012 with a panel celebrating the fifth season of outlaw biker series Sons of Anarchy, and although five years is a long time in TV, the series looks very far from jumping the proverbial shark.

The panel kicked off with a look at several minutes of footage from season five, a Comic-Con exclusive, in which the season is set up, at a glance. Jax is now the head of the Sons, and Clay has been reduced to something like a biker file clerk. He’s lost everything: His power, his wife, and his leadership of the club. Jax, having finally assumed the leadership role, will be put to the test by having to run the club. Now that Jax has what he wants, what will he do with it?

After the video, the cast and creator of Sons took the stage. Series creator Kurt Sutter, Katey Sagal, Charlie Hunnam, Maggie Siff, Kim Coates, Ryan Hurst, Tommy Flanagan, Mark Boone Jr., Dayton Callie, Theo Rossi and Comic-Con legend, Ron Perlman all were reppin’ SAMCRO at the Con-- there was a lot of testosterone and denim in Hall H.

Your Silent Hill Nightmares Return In Theaters & Halloween Horror Nights In Silent Hill: Revelation 3D Comic-Con 2012 Panel

Inside the Silent Hill: Revelation 3D panel at Comic-Con 2012, it was clear that we won't be sleeping easy after this Halloween. Wait, I take that back. I probably won't like being alone in the dark after what I saw in Hall H, where attendees were given a first look at footage from the film.

The two scenes featured star Adelaide Clemens being chased in a creepy factory by an even creepier mannequin spider monster, as well as Kit Harington (Jon Snow!!) trying to escape a room of stabby nurses. You know what this means. Silent Hill is back!

Joss Whedon On Dr. Horrible 2 And Much Ado About Nothing At Comic-Con 2012 Panel

What happens when you throw Joss Whedon on stage with a mic before a thousand diehard fans? That's exactly what his panel was about at Comic-Con 2012 where people were given the opportunity to ask The Avengers director (almost) anything. And if they couldn't get to ask anything, they were happy to sit back and listen.

Whedon first spoke about having just finished the post production on his new film, Much Ado About Nothing, which he said was "one of the greatest experiences" for him and was "so proud of everyone in it," a shoot he described as watching "people you love rocking Shakespeare so hard." Aside from taking on one of literature's greatest, he also announced that the movie would feature his first film score.

And if it's terrible? "Well, then. It was my first."

Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston & Vince Gilligan Talk New Season At Comic-Con 2012 Panel

Breaking Bad's fifth season finally premieres on Sunday, June 15, and what better way to celebrate its return than with a Comic-Con panel? I've never seen a convention hall room so packed--both physically and with anticipation, in hopes of seeing the cast and catching a glimpse of what's to come for television's most popular meth makers.

And no, they weren't disappointed.

The Evolution of Gears of War From Gears of War: Judgment Comic-Con 2012 Panel

Gears of War: Judgment will be a prequel to the established Gears series and even though the game is still a ways from release, (March 19, 2013), we want to know what sets this game apart from the previous Gears games. That question was answered at the Gears of War: Judgment panel at Comic-Con 2012. Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson had several new videos and announcements to give gamers exactly the Gears info they wanted.

Speaking of which, here are five ways Gears of War: Judgment will be different from Gears of War 1, 2 and 3.

1. Tone

Judgment's new tone is credited to its new writers, Rob Alten and Todd Bissel, both established writers in Hollywood and in gaming. Their writing style and mature sensibility will add another layer to the game. Brutality and the melancholy are both core themes of the series, and these themes will shape Judgment as well.

Elysium Panel Comic-Con 2012: Neil Blomkamp Will Change Your Life

I want to tell you how amazing Neil Blomkamp’s Elysium will be. I sat in on the panel for the District 9 director’s next project at Comic-Con 2012, and I can’t wipe the fanboy off myself enough to give an accurate appraisal of its awesomosity, but trust me: This movie might change your freakin’ life, and I only saw like nine minutes of it.

While Jodie Foster and Matt Damon (both Comic-Con virgins) were onhand at the show, as was District 9’s Sharlto Copely, the star power really belonged to the movie, not the celebrities. As soon as it started rolling, everything else was forgotten.

Set in a dystopian future, Elysium’s world is all about a sharp line between the haves and the have-nots. The one-percent live in a perfect satellite that orbits earth. There’s no sickness on Elysium. No pain. But the rest of us (that’s you and me) live down here on the planet where everything just sucks, all the time.

Sam Raimi, Michelle Williams & Milas Kunis Return To Oz At The Oz: The Great & Powerful Comic-Con 2012 Panel

There's no place like home, especially when that home includes Oz: The Great & Powerful director Sam Raimi! This time, he's staying away from his signiature horror style and going a little more classic. He sat down with Chris Hardwick at Comic-Con 2012 to discuss his upcoming movie, Oz: The Great & Powerful, which is based on the original books by L. Frank Baum.

The film, starring James Franco as Oscar Riggs, reveals the man's origins and how he became the great wizard we known now. Raimi went on to describe how "it's a story about a selfish man and throughout the course of the journey, by the time he gets to Oz, it's like a land of second chances. He's influenced by great friends like the Good Witch Glinda, and how he becomes more of a selfless man."

Fourth Season News From The Community Comic-Con 2012 Panel

The Community panel at Comic-Con 2012 was like a family reunion. The fans of NBC's comedy series are so dedicated, many of them waited outside all night for a chance to see the stars of this hit series. Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Danny Pudy, and Yvette Nichole Brown did not disappoint.

The cast and fans reminisced over old times, including memories of favorite episodes; the Law and Order episode, the Blanket Fort episode, and more.

And like any family gathering, it was not without its drama. If you follow the show, you know that Dan Harmon, the creator of Community, is no longer on the show, so the new co-showrunner David Guarascio was on hand to reassure the audience.

"We are fans of the show first," said Guarascio. "We understand the show deeply and love it, and want it to be the wonderful thing that it is."

"We're not going to screw it up," he added.
