Bioshock Infinite Mechanical Patriot Revealed: Meet Your Red, White And Blue Nightmare

After the reveal of Bioshock Infinite at E3 last year, fans have been foaming at the mouth to get any information that they can on the game. Ken Levine and the creative team talked through their process of creating villains in the game. They covered everything from new gameplay ideas that just didn’t work out to the sillier things that happened during the development of Bioshock Infinite. Be warned though, if you are hoping to stay somewhat in the clear spoiler-wise, proceed with caution.

Ken set the stage for everything that was about to be discussed with a simple question that ended up being their internal barometer for the characters that they were creating; What makes for a really good signature bad guy? We’ve been bombarded by a variety of villains for decades but even then, it’s a really hard question to answer. “It’s what scares me the most when making games – that it won’t be right.” said Ken. It’s easy to agree with a statement like that. Imagine the most iconic films or books that you’ve experienced and replace their villain with someone else; it just doesn’t work.

Primal Carnage

Primal Carnage is the team-based online multiplayer game where you're fighting for your life against dinosaurs. But that's only one side of the coin, on the other, you actually get to play as dinosaurs who attempt to take out the pesky humans. Here's a snippet from Eric "Godzilla" Eckstein's latest preview:

"On the Dinosaurs side, there are also five classes though the Compys class was disabled for the demo. Available to play, we had Dilophosaurus (the Spitter, ranged spit that can blind foes at a distance), T-Rex (the Tank, which can kill humans just by walking over them), Raptors (which can pounce on their prey and rip them apart), and Pteranodons (flying beasts that can snatch humans from the ground). Dinos play from a third-person view, which can make targeting a little difficult, but avoids the weird POV claws view you typically see in games like this. Also, soaring over an outpost as T-Rexs plodded along followed by Raptors looking to steal some scraps was an impressive visual that's still in my brain."

Trion Worlds and SyFy Network have come together to bring you Defiance's first gameplay trailer. The third-person massive online shooter for the PC and consoles is based on the upcoming SyFy Network TV show of the same name. The show will launch when the game does and you'll see its story arcs develop in the game. You'll play as a citizen of a transformed Earth, in a time when we've been invaded by an alien bug race who, of course, have very sharp teeth.

Defiance First Gameplay Trailer »

"Because they exist in a single universe, the show and the game will influence each other and evolve together over time, with actions in both mediums driving the overall story of Defiance," said Trion Worlds.

If you watched the video I hope you wore a mask so you didn't get bug ooze all over yourself. I did...

Lollipop Chainsaw

Would you kick the woman above out of your convention for being too sexy? This is reportedly what happened over the weekend at PAX East 2012, when Lollipop Chainsaw spokes-model Jessica Nigri was asked to leave the show floor until she changed out of a revealing outfit.

The outfit in question is below the "Read More" tag, courtesy of Lollipop Chainsaw creator Suda51's Twitter feed.

The costume change wasn't enough, apparently. After she changed back to her regular Juliet Starling clothes (shown above) she was asked to either change again, or leave the show entirely. Bye, Bye, Juliet.

Far Cry 3

Oh, wow! A Far Cry 3 preview is up! G4's editors Jake "Classy" Gaskill and Nikole "Island Hopper" Zivalich got their hands on Far Cry 3's multiplayer over the weekend, and now they're acting all smug and superior at G4's offices. Jerks. But they also wrote a preview for you too. Here's a taste:

"The first thing I noticed when my match began was how stunning the game looks even in its pre-alpha stage. Hardly surprising give the graphics-melting visuals on display in single-player, but having that same level of detail in a multiplayer mode immediately gives FC3’s multiplayer a distinct look and feel. The texture work, the lighting, the physics and explosions, they all have an impressive amount of polish to them, even at this early stage."

Fortnite Director Admits That Minecraft Was 'An Inspiration'

Epic Games is working on a PC-exclusive game of some kind, as Cliff Bleszinski and Mike Capps confirmed during a PAX East panel. Capps later doubled down on the confirmation to Joystiq, stating that work has already begun on the mysterious game and that the plans are to keep it exclusive to PCs.

It's a wide-open world for Epic right now. The developer confirmed Fortnite in December 2011 with a trailer, but that's really all we know about now in this post-Gears of War era. You can bet heavily on seeing more of the Gears-verse in future games, but the release of the trilogy-capping story in 2011's Gears of War 3 now opens up the playing field for Epic to look in other directions.

What could this PC-exclusive title be? A shooter, of the first- OR third-person variety, seems unlikely, since those genres are already so well-suited to console play. Could it be a real-time strategy game? An MMO of some kind? ...a Facebook game? Hopefully not that last one. Share your thoughts below.

Gears of War 3 Screenshots E3 2011: Characters Galore!

When asked about the once-rumored Gears of War tile, Gears of War: Exile, Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski went on record to confirm to GameSpot that while the title was once in development, it was later canned. No further details were revealed.

"Let's just bury the hatchet now," Bleszinski said in the interview. "Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been cancelled." It doesn't get much more concrete than that.

Borderlands 2 Adds Cosmetic Customization, Post-Launch Mechromancer Class DLC

Borderlands 2 will be getting a fifth character class -- the Mechromancer -- after launch as free DLC, as well as cosmetic character customization features and a special edition release, Gearbox Software confirmed during its PAX East panel. The bonus class will only be free to those who pre-order game, though it will also be sold as premium DLC.

The Mechromancer is a cyborg who is capable of calling her robot D374-TP companion -- Deathtrap -- to the battlefield, presumably as her Action Skill. You'll be able to customize her look, and those of the other four classes, using gear, costume pieces, and alternate heads unlocked from completing missions.

Charlie Murder Preview: Heavy Metal Gaming, Dude

You have not heavy metal enough for Charlie Murder. From the studio that brought you Dishwasher Samurai comes a game about head stomps, throwing knives, and fashion. Charlie Murder comes across as a Castle Crashers dipped in black ink, but behind that vampire smile lies a depth that only a few RPGs dare to touch.

The demo starts out simply with you in hell fighting demons. From there, Charlie Murder only gets crazier. As the medics bring your crew back to life, you find yourself in the middle of the zombie invasion. Punch, kick, and grab your shambling assailants with your typical light and heavy combos. Find a well-placed spike or electric pole to instantly kill your foe with a good throw.
