Grand Theft Auto IV

Take a quick look at a few different ways Niko can jack cars in Liberty City. This isn't even half of what you'll see, though.

Notice the way Niko looks around before smashing a window if he doesn't have a wanted level, but there's no hesitation if the cops are on him.

X-Play's very own Adam Sessler will be appearing on FOX News' Geraldo Rivera this Sunday, talking about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV as well as X-Play's Summer Games Preview.

No doubt you all remember the controversy that began when FOX News incorrectly and irresponsibly reported on the sexual situations depicted in the game Mass Effect and how Adam reacted somewhat adversely.

Well, now it's time for FOX News to meet The Sess face to face. He'll be appearing on Gerlado Rivera at 8:30PM ET/5:30PM PT.

Videogame analysts and experts interviewed by Reuters think the PlayStation 3 will win big when Grand Theft Auto IV is release.

"This is one game that has the potential to move some hardware," Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising for video-game retail chain GameStop Corp said.

"So many people who owned the PS2 went into PlayStation family because of 'GTA'. The release of 'GTA4' could expedite their decision to upgrade," said Edward Williams, an analyst with BMO Capital Markets.

Michael Pachter was similarly bullish on the PS3: "I think PS3 'wins' this battle," Pachter said.

Sound true, gamers? What's your analysis: Will Grand Theft Auto sell more PS3s or 360s?

You can’t swing a dead hooker around the gaming world this week without hitting Grand Theft Auto IV. While the Grand Theft Auto series is among the most important (and most awesomest) series in gaming history, it’s not perfect—nothing is. Little annoyances within GTA’s games' nearly flawless worlds--errors that would be unnoticeable in lesser titles--are epically fail because even a little bit of stink sticks out in a rose garden.

Hence today’s topic: Epic Fail: Grand Theft Auto.

Car Surfing: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – This is one of those things that’s passed off as “cool,” when it really should have been passed off as a “glitch.” You know how you can jump onto the roof of a car while it’s still moving, and then the car will continue, as if the driver has no idea that there’s a living person on his/her roof, for as long as the drivers are endlessly, casually driving around the city? You know how, in real life, if there was someone on your car who had tried to pull you and/or hundreds of other people out of their cars on city streets that you’d do anything possible to get him off your car, or at least drive to where cops hang out? Doesn’t that seem lame to you? Yeah, me too.

You'll want to check out Ben Fritz's extended interview with Dan Houser, the creative force behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise and co-founder of Rockstar Games. He goes into how GTA IV is a true reinvention of the series, his preference on hardware in consoles, his response to critics of the sex and violence in his games, and much much more.

Pop some popcorn cuz it's a long, but totally worthwhile read.

A GTA fan in New Zealand has made a modded copy of San Andreas that attempts to make the game feel more like home. But Karori resident Stacy O’Callaghan might be in trouble with Kiwi cops, as a law dictating the use of the police symbol is strictly enforced. His mod has some added New Zealand landmarks but primarily is about making the cop cars and the officers look more like the Kiwi version.

Seriously? They're really gonna go after this kid? Stacy has already said he won't be selling the modded PC version of the game, but has done it out of national pride. Let the kid do his thing. And hey, if you watch the video, it looks like Kiwi cops look the same as US cops when they're getting stomped in the balls.

Small world, huh?

Check out this brief interview with three GTA fans who've managed to play M-rated games, despite being under 17, some without their parent's knowledge. We know how easy it can be to get access to these games, but these kids have some interesting and surprisingly wise things to say about ratings and the games themselves.
