We're a little bit more than one week from the release of Rovio's most high-profile cross-franchise effort to date, Angry Birds Star Wars. There's been some worry that the new game will simply amount to an Angry Birds Space knockoff with Star Wars skins, but a newly released gameplay trailer is here to set you straight on that count.

The new birds we get a peek at are all sorts of Star Wars-y. The Luke Skywalker bird (a fitting surname for a Force-sensitive avian) can swing his lightsaber around in flight, taking out whatever's in its path. Then there's the Leia-bird, which can... shoot pink eyebeams? I don't remember that from any of the Original Trilogy movies. Maybe it was a feature of the Special Edition?

Kidding aside, this game looks badass.

Google Nexus Line Adds New Smartphone, Tablet

The Google Android-powered Nexus line of mobile devices just got a bit bigger, with the newly revealed LG Nexus 4 smartphone and Samsung Nexus 10 tablet both set to arrive on November 13, 2012. The tablet is perhaps the most noteworthy, a 10.1-inch beast that bests Apple's iPad in processing power, video resolution, memory, and, most importantly, price. The Nexus 4 falls at $399 for a 16GB, a full $100 less than the iPad.

Meanwhile, the Nexus 4 features a 4.7-inch screen (larger than the 4-inch iPhone 5) and competes with most high-end smartphones out there on the hardware side, save for one key difference: the Nexus 4 offers no support for 4G LTE networks. The Verge has a pretty detailed explanation from Google's Andry Rubin on the reason for the omission, but it basically boils down to the fact that the company hopes to sell the new phone primarily as an unlocked device. Adding 4G support wouldn't just increase the cost, it would also require playing ball with wireless carriers.

The Nexus 4 will sell at $299 and $349 for 8GB and 16GB models, respectively. T-Mobile will also sell a subsidized $199 version with a two-year contract commitment. In related news, Google also announced that the Nexus 7 tablets from Asus will see their storage capacity doubled, to 16GB and 32GB for $199 and $249 models, respectively.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Coming To iOS, Android

Rockstar Games is celebrating the tenth anniversary of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City with a fall 2012 re-release for iOS and Android devices, Rockstar's Newswire confirms. The anniversary falls on October 29, 2012, though the announcement pegs the mobile launch for "later this fall."

Along with the re-release, Rockstar will also celebrate the anniversary with the release of a new trailer for the game, some previously unseen artwork, and a "limited run" of promotional items that will be sold through the studio's online store. I can still remember running out to snag myself an early copy of Vice City from my resident shady game store in Brooklyn, then staring at it wistfully all day as I waited for work to end. My favorite GTA game, as it is for many others.

Stay tuned for more details soon.

Attack of the Show's guest host, Horatio Sanz, spoke with gdgt co-founder Ryan Block about Apple's latest tech announcements. Apple recently revealed a handful of new products including the iPad mini, the new iMac and a 13" MacBook Pro.

Boost Line Lets You Charge Your Phone

Eton has announced the Boost Line of portable chargers. The first in the series, The BoostTurbine Series will provide on-the-go powers to mobile devices with dead batteries.

The BoostTurbine Series is a portable charger with a hand-turbine generator. Cranking the generator like an old car window will restore life to your mobile device. The BoostTurbine is equipped with a rechargeable lithium battery. Eton estimates about a minute of cranking will result in 30 seconds of call time. Not ideal, but creating power with your hands is pretty cool. Using the hand-turbine as a source of power not only sounds like the perfect way to get in a quick workout, it's also ideal for the zombie apocalypse.

BoostTurbine is expected to retail for about $49. It's available now for pre-order in the Eton store.

Welcome to G4's Knuckle Up, where we bring you a byte-sized view of our five favorite mobile games every week. The phone and tablet space is filled with incredible games that will keep you busy for minutes, hours, or even days -- we'll let you know what we're playing and why we're playing it. Here are our five favorite games this week:

iOS ($2.99) | Android ($3.00)

Max McMann is a terrible role model, and our new hero. Devil’s Attorney revolves around the dashing, self-centered McMann and his quest to get the dregs of society off scot-free, while simultaneously furnishing his apartment, dressing well, and upgrading his sports car. It’s not always easy to get that “Not Guilty,” though...

If we had to describe the gameplay in Devil’s Attorney, we’d probably say it was like a simple card game, but with hilarious dialogue and a protagonist you hate to love (he reminded us a little of one Sterling Archer). Each case offers a funny intro, and then you’ll spend points over your turn chipping away at the prosecution, who trot out evidence, witnesses, and modifiers to them that complicate your plan to win.

There’s so much to love about Devil’s Attorney, we couldn’t possibly squeeze it into such a short review. It’s a “pure” mobile game, free of IAP and ads, making it a crime not to buy it. The gameplay is so solid and amusing, you’ll end up replaying it just to listen to Max’s banter with each prosecutor. The only thing we’re guilty of is loving this game too much.

This is a special edition, dedicated to our 5 favorite scary mobile games!

iPad ($9.99) iPhone ($6.99) | Android ($6.99) | BlackBerry PlayBook ($6.99)

First, we would like to point out that we’re huge fans of Dead Space’s availability across multiple mobile platforms (shout out to our PlayBook lovers!). That being said, let’s talk Dead Space, and why it’s so damn good. We love the console version of Dead Space, and this is an extension of that title: you play as “Vandal,” and it’s up to you to exact vengeance upon the aliens who’ve slaughtered the space colony “Sprawl.”

In the grand tradition of sci-fi/horror franchises like Alien and Resident Evil, Dead Space crafts a universe that’s both claustrophobic, yet lonely -- a perfect combination for creating uneasiness, bolstered by superb sound mixing. Play this one in the dark with headphones on, and you’re guaranteed a horror experience on par with the best in mobile gaming. Don’t miss the back rooms for additional goodies (and scares). Dead Space is a must-buy for anyone who’s a fan of the genre.

Potential Names For Android's Next OS

The FBI has issued a warning to smartphone users, specifically Androids, about possible mobile malware threats. The Internet Crime Complaint Center alerted Android users to be wary of several malware attacks, like FinFisher and Loozfon, which target Android phones. The IC3 added those were just two of the many active viruses that are being used to compromise mobile devices.

Dot Emu is the team responsible for the fabulous port of classic Another World, and they’ve really impressed us with their newest effort, a port of the mystery/adventure classic The Last Express. The first time The Last Express was in gamers’ hands, it was back in 1997. Today, it translates well to the iPhone and iPad, offering a rich and intriguing story, hand-drawn animation, and solid voice acting.

The story takes place in 1914, on one of the most famous trains in history, the Orient Express. You play as Robert Cath, a mysterious man who’s boarded the moving train in order to meet up with his friend, Tyler Whitney. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but a few minutes into the game, it’s obvious things aren’t going according to plan.

One thing we love about The Last Express is that it takes place in real time, over a train ride from Paris to Istanbul. And we hope you’re a master sleuth, because events will happen whether you’re there to witness/hear them or not, so you’ll want to be sharp and efficient as you solve the mystery that unfolds around you. The Last Express is a wonderful port of a game; it’s tough, but that makes reaching the end all the more satisfying.
