PAX Prime 2011

New BioShock Infinite Details

G4TV.com is streaming the entire BioShock Infinite panel from PAX Prime 2011 starting at 2 PM PST on Saturday, August 27.

PAX Prime in Seattle promises a ton of games, gamers, and excitement, but arguably the hottest ticket at the show is Irrational Games' BioShock Infinite panel. If you're at PAX, check it out at the Unicorn Theater. If you're not going, you can watch the stream right here on Saturday!

The panel stars Ken Levine (Creative Director, Irrational Games), Troy Baker (Voice of Booker DeWitt from BioShock: Infinite), and Courtnee Draper (Voice of Elizabeth) as they discuss the evolution of Elizabeth and Booker as characters, as well as their in-game relationship and its impact on the player's experience.

firefall

This weekend, August 26-28, at PAX Prime you'll have the opportunity to not only see an amazing lifesize Firefall sculpture created by Steve Wang, in person, but you'll also get the chance to participate in the Crystite Challenge to win some amazing Firefall prizes. The Firefall sculpture is an amazing 14 feet high and took a heck of a lot of work to complete. If you want to see exactly how Wang and crew made the piece, check out our behind the scenes photo gallery of the Firefall sculpture.

Firefall is the upcoming free to play shooter from Red 5 Studios that seems to be a mix between Team Fortress 2 and Borderlands. At PAX Prime, daily missions will be given to PAX attendees that all require you to do something Firefall related. Once you complete your mission you'll get Crystite, which you can then turn in for loot at the Firefall booth.

The kind of loot is all sorts of Firefall memorabilia including shirts, hats, character cards of the main character Typhon and Morningstar, as well as miniature figurines of the characters. But that's not all, you'll also get a chance to win an iPad and some fancy headphones as well.

Read on to check out the kind of missions you'll need to overcome at PAX Prime this weekend to get some of this awesome stuff!

Razer

Razer, the high end PC gaming peripheral company has kicked off their "PC gaming is not dead" campaign with an ad in the Wall Street Journal, as well as promo site complete with countdown timer on pcgamingisNOTdead.com. The company promises to revolutionize PC gaming on August 26, the first day of PAX Prime 2011 in Seattle, Washington. The ad in the Wall Street Journal is addressed to "our friends Xbox, PlayStation and Wii", insisting that "rumors of [PC gamers] untimely demise have been greatly exaggerated". We're thinking it has something to do with the Switchblade, one of the most impressive devices to come out of CES 2011.

Here's the description of the official PC Gaming is Not Dead panel from PAX Prime:

Join Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan for a live presentation of Razer's new, groundbreaking project for PC Gamers worldwide. If you were impressed with Razer's Switchblade concept, which won the Best of CES 2011 People's Voice Award, wait until you get a load of what Razer has in store for you at PAX Prime. Square Enix Logo

Kim Swift, the creator of Portal, will be on-hand at PAX Prime this weekend, unveiling her new game at the Square Enix panel on Saturday night. I would suggest you do everything within your power to make it to the show and check out whatever's on offer.

We have no word from Square as to what kind of game it is (or what it's even called), beyond this tantalizing reveal in a recent press release:

"PAX attendees will be the first to see Square Enix and Airtight Games globally reveal a top-secret joint project through their exclusive panel. Meet the development team, including Creative Director Kim Swift (PORTAL, Left 4 Dead 1, Left 4 Dead 2) and the rest of the Airtight Games team, and hear their explanation of how they are bringing an incredibly fascinating and quirky game to life. The panel will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pegasus Room."

If you're not going to be there, no worries. Check out G4TV.com for coverage of whatever Square and Swift are creating.

Come See G4 Live and In-Person @ PAX!

PAX Prime 2011 has sold out, dear friends. No, not in that hipster, "I liked them before they were mainstream" kind of sell-out, I mean there are literally no more tickets for hopeful attendees. It's no surprise, as the second coming of Penny Arcade head honchos Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahuli to PAX East in March 2011 was the largest show in Penny Arcade history, with 69.5 thousand attendees. So yeah, the show is pretty popular.

But alas, it will not be for us to gaze upon. Together we can weep and wail in the darkest of sorrows, and curse ourselves for not taking advantage while we could.

Luckily for all of us, G4 will be covering PAX Prime, top to bottom. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, E3 first.
