PS Vita

E3 2011 was chock full of big announcements by big names and Sony was no slouch. Just as everyone expected the NGP finally has a proper name, PS Vita.  But that's not all, Sony also gave us a teaser of some of their new 3D gear. Some comfy looking 3D glasses and a screen that purportedly turns non 3D enabled TVs into 3D machines.

There was plenty more to see and here, but for now we'll leave you with a gallery full of hardware.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Character Bios: Sackboy, The Alliance, And You!

LittleBigPlanet by Media Molecule has always been about breaking down barriers between players and the worlds in which they play, encouraging creativity and imagination. We saw just how much the game has already improved with the sequel LittleBigPlanet 2 (pictured above), so what happens when the world of Sackboy/girl has a new system on which to roam, the PlayStation Vita, with its touchscreen interface and powerful hardware? Turns out, you get some pretty grin-inducing new gameplay:

"For instance, any object that sackboy can grab, you can also grab simply by touching the object with your finger. Need to spin a giant wheel but there aren't any switches nearby? Simple. Just flick your finger across the wheel, and it will spin, allowing sackboy to then grab onto it and pull himself up to a higher ledge."

While Jake Gaskill wasn't able to try out the level editor feature so integral to the LBP experience, this gameplay snippet is more than enticing enough to pique the interest. If you want to learn more about how you'll be influencing the world of sacks, puppetry and stickers galore, make sure to read the whole LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation Vita E3 2011 preview!

Ridge Racer 3D Details, Screens Drift In

Ridge Racer for the PlayStation Vita has been announced by Namco Bandai, much to the surprise of... okay, no one. But still! It's Ridge Racer! It's Riiiiiidge Racerrrr! Ahh, it's good to catch up with five-year old memes.

In all seriousness, I personally have loved the Ridge Racer series since R4, and I am by no means a racing games kind of girl. I'd much rather be slicing throats or fighting intergalactic evil most days, but man, sometimes it's just fun to drift and drift and drift to some catchy jazz. I'm already planning to pick up Ridge Racer 3D (pictured above) when I get the opportunity.

So don't worry Kaz. You've got at least one fan here, even if you might've wanted to hide the title until after your Sony E3 2011 press conference.

Slated for a 2012 release, Timmothy Gerristen, Director of Product Development for Irrational Games, gave us a little more insight about the world of Bioshock Infinite. The new addition will now drastically broaden the world of Columbia that we've to come to know. You can also hear how they've retuned Bioshock Infinite to give gamers a brand Bioshock new experience!

Watch The Sony E3 2011 Press Conference Live At 5:00 PM PST

Sony packed journalists and foreign dignitaries into the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena to unveil their E3 2011 offerings, and house music pumped over a crowd washed in darkness and heat. It was actually like a real-life sauna in there, and they kicked things off with 3D. So if you thought Sony might be letting the 3D thing fall by the wayside, you are sorely mistaken. Ominous music bored a hole through our heads while the PlayStation logo flew around the screen before giving way to some sexy, sexy shots of the NGP, and then revealed a full suite of PlayStation products, including "3D World" by Sony. So, again with the 3D. A trailer full of Sony's upcoming products, with heavy emphasis on the NGP and other announced title poured out over a soundtrack so full of bass that it vibrated intimate parts of my body, free of charge! The whole thing was powerful enough to convince the most diehard anti-Sony fan that this is a system worth some attention.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss Gameplay Demo Details

Developers from Bend Studios demoed Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PlayStation Vita live during Sony’s E3 2011 press conference, showing off the games intuitive and dynamic use of the Vita’s traditional control scheme as well as the touch screen and rear touch pads.

In the demo, we watched as Nathan Drake moved fluidly through a stunningly detailed (thanks advanced water and lighting shaders!) jungle setting typical of the series. The game supports all types of control preferences so if, for instance, you want to jump to a nearby ledge, you can either use the thumbstick to point Drake in the right direction, or tilt the Vita and then swipe the screen to make him jump.
