The Razer Switchblade may be the most impressive device to come out of CES 2011. There, I said it. Razer announced the development of an innovative "concept design" that would bring PC gaming to a portable form. It's powered by an Intel Atom processor and uses touch-screens rather than the traditional mouse and keyboard. It's still in developmental stages but the fact that this is being worked on at all is worth noting, even if we don't know when or if it will get mass produced.

The long anticipated Blu-ray version of George Lucas’ beloved/reviled epic Star Wars saga will be moseying into an intergalactic cantina near you in September 2011, Lucasfilm confirmed today at CES 2011.
Variety lovers will be pleased to know that there are actually be three different collections to choose from: the nine-disc Star Wars: The Complete Saga set ($139.99, currently $89.99 on Amazon), which includes all six SW films plus three bonus discs featuring over 30 hours of special features and deleted/alternate scenes, the Star Wars: Prequel Blu-ray Trilogy, and the Star Wars: Original Blu-ray Trilogy. The trilogy collections will cost $69.99 each, but you can pre-order them right now for $44.99 on Amazon.

CES means one thing to us here at G4: New and exciting controllers, and Razer's just-revealed 360 controllers are as new and exciting as it gets. They're putting out two controllers: The Razer Onza 360 Tournament editions controller pictured above, and a Standard edition.
Onza Tournament Edition offers adjustable resistance analog sticks, and the ability to twist the analog sticks in one direction to make them more resistant for steadier control, or twist in the opposite direction for quicker, fluid movements.
Last night we learned that Microsoft's Avatar Kinect will introduce facial and enhanced gesture-recognition to Xbox Live, but perhaps you'd like to see Avatar Kinect in action? We've got it right here:

I admit it; I'm nerding out over Nyko's just announced gun peripherals for the PlayStation Move.
Above is the Power Shot for Move, an "ergonomic tactical rifle attachment" that features "removable and rotating Navigation Controller dock allows the player to hold the Power Shot in various configurations, making it ideal for left and right handed gamers." According to Nyko, the "tactile trigger replicates the Motion Controller button for smooth firing and the aiming sight increases the player's accuracy. The Power Shot also features an extendable stock, allowing for utmost stability and precision during intense action games." It's out on March.

Here's an awesome CES 2011 announcement: Everyone's favorite co-op PC action-dungeon-crawler Torchlight is coming to Xbox Live, complete with online co-op. Who needs Diablo 3, amIright?
Torchlight will be part of the Xbox Live Arcade House Party pack, where a big game per week will be dropping, beginning on February 16. The first title will be Konami's side-scroller Hard Corps Uprising, and after that, Beyond Good & Evil, Full House Poker, Bejeweled Blitz Live and Torchlight will be released, one per week. Sadly, the exact dates on the games isn't known yet, but when we hear, we'll let you know.
Torchlight and Live are a perfect fit, and I can't wait to dive into some chaotic, elves-and-spells action when this lands!
Sony left us gamers a bit out in the cold at the CES 2011 Keynote, hyping their new 3D products but skimping on any game details. They mentioned Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5, and showed us the "already seen round the world" trailer for Uncharted 3, but other than a passing mention at a "Play Memories" photo app that can handle 3D photos and a Music Unlimited feature coming to Qriocity on the PlayStation, there was no gaming information at all. Heck, they didn't even tease Little Big Planet 2 or DC Universe Online, both of which come out this month.
While the show hasn't even started yet, and this was really a platform for product launching, we're surprised that there wasn't any more hype for Sony's "It Does Everything" machine. With the Move just released recently, we thought we heard more about that, for sure, and where was the rumored/leaked PlayStation Phone or the PSP 2 that we keep hearing rumblings about? At any rate, a terrifically gamer-centric Sony Keynote unfolded in the fantasy realm of our heads using pure 3D and Sony's own "Make. Believe." slogan. Read on to find out what we wish Sony would have announced at CES 2011.
As you can probably tell from our coverage of Microsoft’s 2011 CES keynote presentation, we were frankly a bit underwhelmed by the (lack of) announcements that dropped to the floor like so many unheard pins in a very quiet room. While Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has always been a captivating speaker, the entire affair seemed more like a commercial for the products and successes of 2010, not the kind of forward-looking future-tech we hope for each year at CES.
Aside from a few minor reveals that Kinect functionality would be heading to Hulu and Netflix this spring – as well as the unveiling of Avatar Kinect’s facial expression technology – the remainder of the keynote focused on the features (or rather, the selling points) behind the already-released Windows Phone 7. And when the evening finally turned to the prospect of PC technology, eager attendees received only a scant mention of the “next version of Windows” and a quick demo of the next iteration of Surface.
Regardless, we had bigger and better hopes for the presentation. Read on to find out what they were…
CES kicked off this evening with two notable press conferences from technological heavy-hitters Sony and Microsoft. As expected, G4 was there to gather all the news and announcements and eager readers can check out our impressions of the 2011 CES Sony Keynote here. As for Microsoft, Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer took the stage for a keynote that ultimately focused more on the relative successes of 2010 than the future innovations of 2011 and beyond.
There’s no doubt that Microsoft made a substantial push into the consumer space on all three fronts last year, unveiling Windows Phone 7 to the mobile world, the latest version of Office to PC users and, of course, the most commercially viable innovation to the gaming space, Xbox Kinect. Having sold more than 8 million Kinect sensors in the first 60 days, it’s obvious that Microsoft felt comfortable enough this year to brush over the kind of exciting announcements that’d get most gamers and tech enthusiasts primed and ready for action in 2011.
UPDATED: Microsoft has since specified that by "sold" it meant "shipped to retailers, a distinction that has become more and more common as of late, especially when it involves hardware/software sales.
Over 8 million Kinects were sold worldwide in the device's first 60 days of availability, Microsoft announced tonight during CES 2011.
As rumored yesterday, Microsoft properly unveiled its new Avatar Kinect service during the company’s CES 2011 keynote presentation this evening in Las Vegas. The service will introduce new facial recognition capabilities that will allow the Kinect to project changes in expression and even lip syncing onto Xbox 360 avatars.
