The latest Xbox 360 title update for Borderlands 2 is out, and among the many fixes and balance tweaks it introduces is one that restores lost Badass Tokens to those who were affected by an earlier glitch. Shortly after Borderlands 2 was released in September 2012, a chunk of players saw their profile-wide Badass Rank progress stunted when upgrades purchased with Badass Tokens disappeared.
Records of completed in-game challenges remained, but the actual rewards for completing those challenges went away. The title update doesn't restore the upgrades that you purchased, but it refunds all of the Tokens that had previously been spent, which is just as great. It seems that affected players are also receiving a gift of 10 Golden Keys. Either that or the server gremlins at Gearbox decided to shower me with riches (UPDATE: Yep, confirmed-- it's a make-good gift from Gearbox).
The patch notes explain how the fix works, but it's pretty straightforward. Load up the save for any character that lost Badass upgrades and you should immediately see those Tokens available to be spent. The patch notes rightly recommend that you Save and Quit immediately, just to make sure that the fix sticks.
The lengthy patch notes run through a wide assortment of improvements and fixes, including some that fans have definitely been asking for. You'll now be presented with a confirmation prompt whenever you use a Golden Key, which should cut down on the number of people who accidentally use up one of the prized keys before they mean to.
Also added is a feature that allows players to reset all Challenge progress for a single character once they've reached 85 percent completion for "non-DLC, non-area-specific challenge levels." You still keep your Badass upgrades though, meaning you're free to pursue those same challenges again and boost your Badass ranking even further.
In more disappointing -- though not unexpected -- news, Gearbox also nerfed the unstoppable Legendary shield, The Bee. Terramorphous just became a whole lot harder to take on as a solo player, both because of that and the fact the he -- along with Blue and Wilhelm -- had his HP total boosted.
