The hype machine for the delayed release of sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation is slowly powering back up.
A week after a new poster touting its 3D-converted status appeared, a new trailer has now emerged with minor (and I stress "minor") bits of new footage from the film as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Roadblock and company get ready to take Cobra's plot for world domination, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up their candy asses.
Check out the trailer below to see Die Hard, The Tooth Fairy, and Magic Mike decimating bad guys with extreme prejudice.
While the trailer doesn't exactly redefine what we've seen from the trailers earlier this year, (one of which was a Super Bowl spot), it is noteworthy that Channing Tatum's Duke is more prominently and consistently featured; a possible sign of the reshoots that took place after the film's initial June 29 release date was nixed.
While it was previously hinted that Tatum's Duke, the central hero of the first film, would be martyred early on in the film, it does seem possible that the delay may have given director, Jon Chu the opportunity to somehow keep the quickly-rising star in the mix. (Although, clearly he is still taking a backseat to Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis in the alpha male department. -- At least, this time)
