The first official teaser poster for sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness has been revealed, featuring, presumably, the film's yet-to-be-identified, dastardly, super-powered pillager played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
Of course, while there are no stars nor any trekking taking place in the poster, it remains consistent with what we've head about the kind of villain we will be getting in this film; one that's bringing some unadulterated, unstoppable carnage back home to the blue jewel of the Terran system and home of the Whopper: Earth.
Check out the full poster below and witness some of the symbolic destruction waged by a guy with super-powers that's really pissed off. (And I'm not talking about Superman with a bad case of hemorrhoids.)
At this point in time, the majority of speculators believe Cumberbatch is playing Gary Mitchell, a character from an episode of the original series who gets corrupted by God-like powers and goes on an inexplicable spree of destruction.
While Mitchell never quite made it back to Earth in that episode, it appears that his ordeal in the rebooted Star Trek canon might just allow him to make the universe his playground. -- That is, if this character actually is Mitchell, anyway.
The poster image has also been slightly animated, currently serving as the splash page for StarTrekMovie.com.
