Rainbow 6 Patriots

Ubisoft's shooter, Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots, has been MIA since we first heard about it late in 2011. The loss of three top developers had lead some to believe Rainbow 6: Patriots was in trouble, but Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, told Polygon the game is still in production.

"The only thing I can say is that we have a good team working on it, and it's really looking good. So when it will come, it will surprise the industry."

The not-too-surprising part of his statement included some insight on the next generation of consoles. When asked if Rainbow 6: Patriots could be a next-gen shooter, Guillemot replied, "there's a good chance it can be."

Rainbow 6: Patriots got our attentions with its target gameplay demo. The video was meant to only be seen within Ubisoft to show what they hoped to make with their next Rainbow 6 game. It was not actual gameplay from the game currently in production.

The game will focus on an International counter-terrorism unit who will be tasked with making tough calls. The unit, called Rainbow, will be sent to New York to deal with home-grown terrorists called the "True Patriots."

Despite Ubisoft's hints that this may be a next-gen title, it is still currently listed for 2013.
