Like the 3DS launch earlier this year, Nintendo is coming to New York City to celebrate the release of the Wii U console with a midnight event at the Nintendo World Store. Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime will be there once again to hype waiting fans, preside over tchotchke giveaways, and ring up the first Wii U sale in the United States. Probably to this guy.
The event starts at 6pm on November 17, 2012 and runs until the new console is officially released at midnight, at which point those waiting in line will be able to purchase their Wii U on a first-come, first-served basis. Nintendo is also taking advantage of the positive press opp to do some good in the world, selling New York-themed T-shirts bearing Mario's image at the event, with all proceeds from those sales being donated to the American Red Cross in support of ongoing Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.
