MGM, Sony and Columbia have delayed Jose Padilha's RoboCop reboot into 2014. RoboCop is now set for February 7, 2014, six months later than its original release date of August 9, 2013.
Now that the beginning of August 2013 is one blockbuster lighter, Sony and Columbia have moved another sci-fi action film, Elysium, into its slot.
Neill Blomkamp's Elysium has been delayed from its previous release date of March 2013. The film features Matt Damon as a Max, an ex-con who must escape Earth's polluted surface. His only safe-haven is an elite space colony, Elysium, where the wealthy have gone to escape the toxic planet below. It sounds more like a summer blockbuster than a spring sleeper, anyway. This will be Neill Blomkamp's second film, his first being District 9.
Elysium is currently set for August 9, 2013.
I have really high hopes for Elysium. Blomkamp did an amazing job with District 9 and I can't wait to see what his next project will be like. Which film are you the most stoked for?
