Astro is hitting the reset button on its popular A40 headsets for 2013, with a tweaked design and improved performance for both it and its included MixAmp Pro external amplifier. The big changes include a quick disconnect system for those too-fragile cords and improved output thanks to newly re-tuned drivers.
On the MixAmp Pro side, the 2013 Edition features a new output jack that allows users to send both game and chat audio out via a 3.5mm connection to an external source, for the purposes of game capture or livestreaming. The updated MixAmp also includes four audio pre-sets (Pro, Core, Media, and Sports), a better TOSlink optical port, and a smaller form factor overall.
Sounds like the big selling points here amount to improved sound and, for the video creators and pro gamers among you, the new game/voice output jack. You can get both the headset and the amp together as a package for $250.
