Starting today, the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update rolls out to users across the world. It's going to be a gradual process, however, as Major Nelson notes that the first batch will spread to around three million consoles worldwide, with the update going wider "over the course of a couple weeks." In other words, don't be alarmed if you don't have the update RIGHT NOW.
The new and improved Xbox 360 dashboard adds a number of features to the gaming console, including a new Internet Explorer web browser, Xbox Music and Xbox Video Portals, a renamed Quick Play menu (now: Recent), and a tweaked UI that folds moives and TV into one and adds a "Sports" portal in the United States. You'll also now be able to save favorite movies/TV, games, music, and more to the home screen.
The update also paves the way for the launch of Xbox SmartGlass, which brings additional features to your games and multimedia via a touch-based device, such as a tablet or smartphone. That feature will launch in full alongside Windows 8 on October 26, 2012.
