David Fincher, the director behind Hollywood hits like Fight Club and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and visual effect lead Tim Miller (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) have been working together with Microsoft and 343 Industries to develop and create the Halo 4 launch trailer.

The trailer, which Microsoft is promising is full of, "action-packed cinematic production that offers a captivating look at the backstory of Master Chief" is titled "Scanned" and will show off new threats that Chief will have to take on in Halo 4. The trailer was shot on location in Prague.

“Halo is one of the most iconic sci-fi universes, with a depth that allows for amazingly cinematic and emotionally riveting stories," said Miller. "The chance to tell a story that explores never-before-seen facets of Master Chief’s journey is an honor. Our goal is to deliver a blockbuster, Hollywood-quality trailer that raises the bar for the award-winning legacy of live-action ‘Halo’ storytelling and gets fans stoked for the return of Master Chief.”

Sounds good to me. The trailer will debut on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on October 18, 2012 at 12:35am ET/11:35pm CT. In the meantime, check out our latest Halo 4 preview video featuring the Prometheans and Covenant working togethe.
