Microsoft seems to be very excited about telling the world about how its trademark for the Killer Instinct has been formally renewed. So much so that the publisher took to its PlayXBLA blog with a formal statement confirming that, yes, the Killer Instinct trademark is still kicking.
"With all due respect to our friends in the media who like to frequent trademark sites, we thought we'd break this one ourselves," the post opens, punctuating the point with a smiley emoticon. "Our legal eagles have authorized us to say: 'We have either renewed or refiled a trademark application [for Killer Instinct] in various jurisdictions."
Killer Instinct might not have the street cred of fighting game classics like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, but Rare's work is still remembered fondly by many a fan and a series revival would no doubt be greeted with excitement.
