Last week we brough you news of Obsidian's kickstarter RPG Project Eternity, an old school game for fans of old-school RPGs. Today, I'm happy to let you know that the project has raised over a million dollars and is fully funded, with 28 days still to go on the Kickstarter.
As more money is raised over the next month, Obsidian will add more content to the game, including new races and companions, a Mac version, player housing, and if the original goal of 1.1 million is doubled, Obsidian will add a Linux version and a new faction... so there's still reason to get over and send those guys some money.
As the project becomes more and more fleshed out, we'll let you in on all the details, so stick with G4!
The success of this project and others like it proves that there a market for more niche-oriented games -- titles that a big publisher might not want to risk a lot of money on, but that do have an audience. Plus, there's something really special about developers reaching out directly to their audiences to create games. I think it will result in extra care being put into this title.
