Gamers who nab themselves a copy of Borderlands 2 off a pre-order can look forward to a bunch of extra goodies from Gearbox Software's Premiere Club regardless of which retailer the game comes from, including a mysterious Golden Key. The chest in the game that goes with the key can be found in Sanctuary, a major town that we visited during a recent Borderlands 2 preview, and now we know what's inside the chest. Or we have a general idea, at any rate.
It's only a general idea because the contents of the chest aren't set in stone. It's random, and scaled to your level at the moment you use your precious Golden Key to open it, as Gearbox community manager and all-around nice guy Chris Faylor confirmed on the Gearbox forums. He says that you'll reach Sanctuary roughly three hours into the game, but there's clearly value in hanging onto your key until the late-game. Personally, I'll be waiting until I hit the level 50 cap to cash in my key. How about you?
