Amazon Announces New Kindle Fire HD Tablets

Amazon has announced new Kindle Fire tablets. The company is releasing two versions of The Kindle Fire HD with the larger one being 8.8 mm thick and weighing 20 ounces. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1200 and 254ppi -- in other words, a true HD display. Soundwise, the Fire HD features Dolby stereo sound with two speakers, a first for a tablet.

The 7-inch 16GB version sells for $199 and ships on September 14, 2012. The larger, 8.9 inch version is $299 but it will feature 254 ppi and a powerful OMAP4 4470 processor and graphics engine. It will ship on November 20, 2012.

If you've got big money to spend, $499 will get you the HD tablet, 32 GB of storage, 4G LTE wireless features, and one year 4G LTE data package from Amazon.

Amazon is upgrading the original Kindle Fire with a faster 40% processor, twice as much RAM and a longer battery life. The price will be $159 when it ships on September 14, 2012.

According to Jeff Bezos, the head of Amazon, the Fire HD is the "best tablet at any price." He says it's faster than the iPad and Nexus 7. The Kindle Fire is the number one best selling product on Amazon. Yopu can find the perfect Kindle for you at Amazon.com.
