Journey Art Book "The Art of Journey" Coming In September

A Journey art book entitled "The Art of Journey" is coming in September from thatgamecompany and Sony's Santa Monica Studio. The developer wanted to give fans of the beautiful game a deeper look into the visual development behind it, so they're releasing a book filled with all sorts of behind-the-scenes concept art, intricate pencil drawings, and 3D models printed in full color on art-quality paper.

"Readers will discover how Journey’s landscapes, cut-scenes, and much-loved robed traveler came to be," said Jenova Chen, Creative Director at thatgamecompany.

"The Art of Journey" will also feature an augmented reality feature. Readers will be able to download a free companion app for their smartphone or tablet, and when they point their devices at special images in the book, they'll see animated 3D models appear as if they were in the game.



"It’s a truly unique and innovative way to more fully experience the artwork of Journey," said Chen.

Additionally, the book will come with a voucher that will allow readerss to download a free copy of Journey's soundtrack to their PlayStation 3.
