Indie mech-combat game Hawken will support the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset when it comes out on December 12. Hawken joins Doom 3: BFG Edition, the other game that supports the kickstarted VR project.

Hawken will use Oculus Rift in a really interesting way. When you're wearing your OR headset, you'll be able to look around your mech's "cockpit," independent of the mech’s direction, in full stereoscopic 3D. Playing Hawken with your Oculus Rift headset is described as "an entirely new way to play Hawken which includes updates to gameplay, input, the cockpit, and the heads-up-display."

If you don't know much about Hawken, check out my Hawken preview. The game is really good. And for more on the Oculus Rift headset, check out the video under the "Read More" tag.
