I hate countdown clocks. They create a sense of hype, excitement and anticipation that too often disappoints when the reveal comes. Like Square Enix's recent The World Ends With You-related timer. When it appeared, people were of course looking forward to the reveal of a sequel to the game. Well sorry. It looks like it's for an iPhone port.
There's nothing wrong with an iPhone port of The World Ends With You. That's a pretty cool idea, actually... but is it a cool enough idea to put a week-long countdown clock? I think not.
Anyway, the news supposedly leaked in a product description for the Japanese version of The World Ends With You -- Crossover music album mentioning the iOS version of the game.
Square scrubbed the info from its sight, but not before Japanese gaming blogs grabbed a screencap.
Anyway, the iOS version of The World Ends with You will supposedly be out in 2012.
The clock is still counting down, if you want to check it out.
