The Wii U is slated for Fall 2012, but Nintendo has been mum on a release date. CVG is now reporting that manufacturing issues will prevent the console from launching in that window in Europe. Due to an issue with the Wii U Gamepad, a device that is both a controller and a tablet, the Wii U might not launch until December. These manufacturing problems are said to be the reason Nintendo has yet to lock down a launch date.

The report goes on to say Nintendo is dead-set on releasing the Wii U before the Thanksgiving holiday in the US,  giving consumers ample time to buy it for the Holiday season.

I personally am very worried for Nintendo. This console doesn't seem finished, and with the lack of launch titles, I fear Nintendo is taking a big gamble ushering out the Wii U in 2012. I'm sure shareholders want the console out this year, but I wonder if they'd lose less money if they waited for a more solid launch.

When do you think the Wii U will be released in the US, and in Europe?

When it is released, do you think it will have the impact the Wii did in 2006?
