The same source that leaked out images of the next-gen Xbox "Durango" dev kit in action in July 2012 is back now with a screen capture showing the second-generation Kinect's improved motion tracking capabilities (via GamesIndustry International). An anonymous Twitter user named DaE, who was later confirmed as the source of the original Durango image leak, shared the image in a tweet.
As anyone familiar with how the current Kinect works can see in the above image, this supposed tracking image suggests that the second-gen Kinect will be capable of picking up an improved level of detail. The human forms in the image appear to be much more clearly defined, to the point that it even highlights the individual fingers on a hand as it passes in front of a body.
Assuming it's accurate, this is especially exciting in light of the news earlier this week via a Microsoft job posting that the next-gen Xbox is expected to arrive sometime in the next 18 months.
