UPDATE 2:05 PM: According to Irrational Games' head Ken Levine, Scott Sinclair, art director of the first Bioshock, will be finishing up Bioshock Infinite.
Original Story:
Two of the main developers of Bioshock Infinite have left developer Irrational Games. Tim Gerritsen, director of product development, and Nate Wells, Infinite's art director, have both announced their departure from the company.
Both men revealed their career changes on social media sites; Wells on his LinkeIn profile and twitter feed, with a post reading, "New Job … Details to follow," and Gerritsen on his LinkedIn profile where he lists his employment at Irrational as having ended this month.
We have no definite word on where either man will land, but intriguingly Wells' LinkedIn page briefly listed Naughty Dog among his employers in 2012. The Bioshock art director working for the creators of Uncharted is a pretty tantalizing prospect, eh?
This news seems pretty bad for Bioshock Infinite, an ambitious game that owes its inspiration to the amazing work of both Gerritsen and Wells. Infinite was missing at E3 this year, and won't be displayed at Gamescom in the coming week either, leading some to speculate that the game will be delayed beyond 2013.
"We suspect both GTA V and Bioshock Infinite could realistically slip into a fiscal ‘14 release period," says Mike Hickey of Janco Partners.
