The Gears of War trilogy is this console cycle's staple third person shooter but that doesn't mean Epic has completely ruled out a first person shooter installment in the series. Rod Fergusson, Epic's Director of Production, recently spoke with OXM about the Gears of War FPS.
"I'm a big believer in never say never," Fergusson said. "It's all about what's interesting in the industry at the time and where fans want us to take it. We don't want to say never but it's not on the top of my mind either. We look at what makes sense and move in that direction."
Of course this is no way means Epic is working on Gears FPS. They're actually working on another third person shooter, Gears of War Judgment. He simply said they're not set against it. By adding "never say never," I have to believe there are other genres Epic hasn't sworn off. Allow me to make a few suggestions.
Hearts of War: A Gears of War dating sim where gamers take the role of Dom, a needy COG solider looking for a second chance at love.
Lambent Pinata!: A colorful farm sim where gamers raise a farm full of lambent wretches, tickers, and other cuddly Locust.
Imagine COG Solider: A landmark collaboration between Ubiosft and Epic, Imagine COG Solider lets gamers raise, dress, and train their very own little soldier.
Locumon: Epic's debut into turn-based pocket monster fighting game is sure to be a hit. Gotta catch all the Locust!
Gears of Fantasy: A lengthy JRPG prequel telling the untold story of Lieutenant Minh Young Kim. On disc three you find out how he got the code.
How would you like to see the Gears of War series evolve?
