Legendary Pictures appears to be heading back to the drawing board with its planned World of Warcraft movie adaptation, bringing Blood Diamond and K-PAX writer Charles Leavitt in to work on a new script, Variety confirms. Leavitt steps in now that Saving Private Ryan writer Robert Rodat has moved on to work on Thor: The Dark World.
All had been quiet on the planned WoW adaptation front until word emerged in July 2012 that director Sam Raimi had stepped away from the project. The Spider-Man and Evil Dead director said at the time that his departure was based on his busy schedule conflicting with Legendary's need to move forward. It's clear that there's more of an effort to get this made than you typically see with an in-development movie; it's simply a matter of all the pieces and players lining up correctly and at the right time.
