If you finished messing around with the AR cards packed into the Kid Icarus: Uprising box and immediately wanted more, this news is sure to make you happy. Nintendo confirms that Series 2 AR cards are coming this summer, with packs being distributed at various events over the course of August 2012.
New York City residents and visitors can stop by the Nintendo World Store starting on August 3 and continuing on Fridays after that -- how long remains to be determined -- from 6-8pm ET. Packs will also be available at some of the bigger upcoming events, such as PAX Prime (August 31-September 2 in Seattle) and New York Comic-Con (October 11-13).
The AR cards make use of the 3DS's built-in camera to bring the pictured in-game element to life in some form; placing two cards next to each other has the added bonus of triggering a battle. In addition to new characters, enemies, items, and weapons, the second series of Uprising AR cards will now also include locations, allowing you to stage your augmented reality battles in a variety of familiar settings.
If you've got no plans to attend any of the upcoming fan conventions and don't live near enough to New York City to hit up the Nintendo World Store, worry not. Nintendo promises to have the Series 2 cards available at "select retail locations" as well, with the details to be announced at a later date.
