Rise Of The Triad Remake Announced At QuakeCon 2012

A Rise of the Triad remake has been announced by Apogee Software and Interceptor Entertainment at QuakeCon 2012.

Rise of the Triad was originally released in the mid-90's. In the over-the-top shooter from back in the Duke Nukem 3D days, players had to rack up as many kills as possible in order to collect keys to progress through the levels. In the new, bigger, "more ludicrous" version of Rise of the Triad, you'll play through 20 levels using an over-the-top arsenal complete with Flamewalls, Firebombs, Split Missles, and more.

Multiplayer is back too, as well as the return of the maniacal modes like with God mode, Elasto mode, Mercury mode, Shrooms mode and my personal favorite, Dog mode.

"Apogee has given us a great opportunity with Rise of the Triad," said Interceptor CEO Frederik Schreiber.  "We are all about fast-paced action and this was simply a perfect match for us as fans of old school shooters."

In addition to fighting your way through the campaign and multiplayer modes, more than 100 achievements will be available for you to earn in Rise of the Triads. To keep you entertained while you're finding them all, the game will also release with the original soundtrack from Rise of the Triad, which has been "re-forged in the fires of heavy metal."

Rise of the Triad will be a PC exclusive title released on Steam. It currently does not have a release date, but when we get more information on the title we'll be sure to let you know.
