Rapper Jay-Z is apparently an executive producer on upcoming basketball game NBA 2K13. I got 99 problems, but Jay-Z being involved in a video game ain't one. The massively famous hip-hop star/entertainment mogul dropped the news on his site, Life and Times, by posting the YouTube video you see below:
While I seriously doubt Hova is in the trenches, overseeing the day-to-day operations at 2K Games, it is interesting when an entertainment figure of Jay-Z's status gets involved in a video game.
As far as the man's hoops-cred, Jay-Z is part owner of the New Jersey Nets. He's been instrumental in the team's upcoming re-naming as the "Brooklyn Nets," as well as helping "re-brand" the Nets as a more "urban" team. Jay-Z is behind the Nets' new black-and-white color scheme, and reportedly designed the team's minimalist logo himself. Not bad.
Does Jay-Z's new position mean NBA 2K13 will have awesome touches of Jay-Z when it comes on October 2? Or is this more like 2K saying: "Jay-Z, we'll pay you a bunch of money if we can call you 'executive producer' of our game."
So far, 2K isn't saying, but when we have more info, we'll share, I promise.
In the meantime, check out this video of NBA 2K13 in action, and try to identify the fingerprints of Jigga.
