If you like bizarre soap opera storylines and the supernatural, then I dare I say you’re a fan of HBO’s True Blood. The hit show is currently in its fifth season. During Comic-Con 2012 I attended a panel for the show featuring everyone’s favorite Bon Temps residents like, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten), Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley), Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård), Roman (Christopher Meloni), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), and Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello). Series creator Alan Ball was also on the panel.
Alan Ball noted on more than one occasion that he will not return for season 6, which will air in June 2013. A few fans asked during Q&A if the TV show would begin to dip more into the book series for which the show is loosely based, "The Southern Vampire Mysteries." These plotlines include the Fairy Wars and the introduction of weretigers. While Alan Ball did not confirm the next season would include any of these, he did say it was possible, giving fans in the audience, and everywhere, hope.
A video teaser for the remaining season was shown, revealing tidbits and spoilers for the rest of the season, and possibly the next. The first notable mention was Alcide’s Wolf War. In last night’s episode we saw JD, the current pack master, try to convince the pack to take V and join him. This argument will most likely escalate into a full on war between the werewolves. Since Joe Manganiello is in the opening credits, my money is on him.
Holly Cleary, played by Lauren Bowles, had a scene in the video too. She and several other witches were gathered around a table, appearing to be conducting a seance. Since Arlene’s husband, Terry, is being hunted by a fire monster, it’s likely that we’ll see Holly and her coven try to help rid Terry of his curse.
If you’ve been watching the past few episodes of True Blood, you’ll notice the amount of sex scenes has been dwindling. A like-minded fan asked the question we’ve all been wanting to ask. “Are we going to see more sex this season?” The answer is yes. There are five episodes left in this season, and in them we’ll see at least three more sex scenes from main characters. We’ll also see some more hook-ups.
The final scene in the teaser showed Sookie and Bill hooking up. It could be a flashback, but I think we all know those two were going to get back together at some point, even though I like her with Eric more.
Stephen Moyer, aka Bill, will be directing next week’s show, “Somebody That I Used to Know." He revealed that in this episode he got to see Joe Manganiello naked. On a more serious note, he mentioned how difficult it was to shoot with Sam Trammell, who plays Sam. His current plotline revolves around a group of murderers who are hunting Shifters. It’s possible Sam could be killed in next week’s show.
True Blood fans, what do you want to see happen on the show?
