Dead Space 3 will be the first game in the series to support co-op gameplay, a decision that many horror-game fans found a bit puzzling; after all, isn't the point of being scared doing it alone? Apparently not. According to EA's marketing boss Laura Miele, Dead Space 3 is the perfect experience to share.
“The horror of Dead Space is still all there. It’s still true to its roots and no less scary, but people felt far more comfortable playing it with someone else than they did doing it on their own," Miele told MCV. Comfortable? I thought this was a Dead Space game!

“We were doing research coming out of Dead Space 1 and 2 and we’re really proud of those products. We received feedback to understand how we can take the game out to even more consumers,” she said. And that means a more action-oriented approach, apparently.
“Personally, I would rather go to scary movie with my husband rather than sit at home with the lights out watching one on my own," Miele said.
I guess it makes sense, from a sales perspective, to focus on action instead of horror. After all, everyone loves action and only some people love horror. But still, as a diehard survival-horror fan, I can't help but be a bit sad at the changes coming to Dead Space 3. Let's hope there's enough sheer dread and terror to keep the faithful happy.
