Paramount Pictures has filed two trademarks for World War Z relating to video games for the upcoming film version of the novel.
The first trademark is for "entertainment services, namely, providing online electronic games;" the second is for "downloadable electronic game programs; Electronic game software for handheld electronic devices; Video game cartridges and discs." In other words: Tie-in games for the movie.
The World War Z film is set to release in 2013, so I imagine the tie-in games will hit around the same time, but other than that, there's no info on what zombie fans can expect.
The novel is a thoughtful examination of a global, zombie cataclysm told from multiple points of view. It's a huge story, spanning years and continents, and could make for any number of amazing games. Whether it will be served by a movie-game is remains to be seen. I hate to be a pessimist, but it probably won't actually live up to the promises of the book. But, hey, you never know, right?
