I was lucky enough to attend the Halo 4 panel at Comic-Con 2012. About 1000 of my closest friends and I joined developers Kiki Wolfkill, Josh Holmes and Frank O'Connor to talk all things Halo 4. The coolest news (in my opinion) at the Halo 4 Comic-Con panel was about animation. The upcoming FPS from 343 Industries will feature brutal, awesome multiplayer assassination animations, and 343 showed off a couple of mode-specific animations at its Comic-Con 2012 panel.
The flag-carrier in Capture the Flag will be able to perform a massively cool kill. Basically, he'll slam players down, then embed the flag in his head or chest. That's good killing! Oddball will also offer a cool assassination. The holder of the oddball will be able to uppercut opponents to death, like Mike Tyson on bath salts.
We also were among the first to take a look at the upcoming Halo 4 360 bundle. You can read all the details and take a look at the Halo 4 Xbox right here.
As for the smaller pieces of news, here's a list of what we learned:
- The Flood will not appear in Halo 4. This news resulted in a rousing cheer from the audience.
- According to the developers, there's "Definitely a possibility" of at least one "classic" map appearing in the game's multiplayer. The crowd seemed to want to see "Blood Gulch" in the new game. I can't say I disagree.
- There will be "plenty" of Easter eggs in the new game, although there will not be a scarab gun.
- There will be no armor lock in the next game. This news practically brought the crowd to its feet--so much cheering.
