No one suspected that Rocksteady Studios was finished with the Caped Crusader following the success of 2011's Batman: Arkham City, and now it's looking like the UK developer might tackle a prequel story in its return to the DC Comics universe. The next Warner Interactive-published Batman game may tell the Silver Age-inspired tale of Batman's first encounter with the Joker, according to unnamed sources speaking to Variety.
There's no way to know if this is accurate information, though with San Diego Comic-Con 2012 on the verge of kicking off, it's certainly possible that an announcement is coming very soon. The report suggests that the rumored prequel wouldn't show up until 2014 at the earliest, presumably fitting into the widely speculated launch window for the next generation of gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
Now, if you'll all join me in chanting "please let this be true" over and over until someone formally confirms it...
