Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will soon be updated to include support for PlayStation 3 Trophies, a new Famitsu interview with series creator Hideo Kojima reveals (via Andriasang). There's no date given for the update, but a budget version of the game is due for release in Japan in August 2012, so it's a safe bet that the Trophies will be added right around then.
It's kind of funny to look back now on Metal Gear Solid 4, which arrived in June 2008, much later than anyone expected following its 2005 reveal but still before Trophies were actually added to Sony's online gaming space. Kojima Productions' Sean Eyestone urged fans asking for MGS4 Trophies to be patient all the way back in 2009. He sure wasn't kidding about that. Personally, I'm hoping to see a platinum Trophy awarded for watching all eight-plus hours of the game's cutscenes in one go.
