The Universal Pictures-produced big-screen adaptation of Sony's God of War seems to be moving forward, with the studio now bringing in Saw and Pacific Rim writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to work on a re-write, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Nothing else is revealed as far as release/production plans or how the movie will approach the material from the games, but fans will probably agree that any news on the long-dormant project at this point is good news.
Melton and Dunstan are probably best known for their work on the Saw series, having written Saw 4, Saw 5, Saw 6, and Saw 3D. They also wrote June 2012's Piranha 3DD, the gory, schlock-horror sequel to 2010's Piranha 3D (oh, I see what they did there). Next up for the writing duo is Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro's "big [effing] robots fighting big [effing] monsters" movie. How big, you ask? This big. REALLY big.
