It isn’t often that new releases are able to remind us of the old school flight sim days, but Skyjacker does just that. This wild trip through space reminds me of my X-Wing experience that had me pining to find a flight stick and fly aimlessly through the dark void. Described as a first-person free-roaming space combat game, you can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia come rushing back as you watch the ship tear through space, firing lasers and rockets as it goes.
The $200,000 goal may seem a bit hefty, but the game looks great. They’re also constantly adding new modes and upgrading the current backer rewards to be even better, without asking for a bigger contributing. Skyjacker is nearly half way to their goal, but time is running out.
Reward: Only $15 will net you DRM-free digital copies of the game and soundtrack.
After funding Flash Point through Kickstarter in 2011, the game has been doing exceptionally well, and the creators have a few new things in store for fans of the series as well as anyone who loves a good board game. Flash Point: Fire Rescue is a fire fighting board game that resembles real buildings and scenarios.
Two expansions are on the way, and they need your help in being produced. The first being 2nd Story that features double sided boards to simulate a two story building and was created by a fan of the original release. The second being a re-release of Urban Structures. It was originally produced as a reward for a certain level of Kickstarter backer level last year, but fans have been asking for a proper release. The goal was extremely small, so it’s already greatly surpassed its goal; it’s a guaranteed project.
Reward: Both expansion packs can be yours for just $25.
Riding high off of the critical acclaim of Indie Game: The Movie comes Video Games: The Movie. As they explain, video games are a huge part of our culture’s history, and they’ve become a mainstay in mainstream media culture ever since they started out as a blip on the screen. The guys over at Mediajuice Studios have been interviewing some of the industry’s biggest names in gaming, but they need your help to keep this project going.
Mediajuice Studios teamed up with Rusel DeMaria, the author of High Score: The Illustrated History of Electronic Games, to make sure that they tell the whole story behind the games we love. It isn’t doing so well on funding right now, but it’s a flexible funding campaign, so they’ll still take whatever you pledge for funding, even if it doesn’t reach its goal.
Reward: A $50 pledge will earn you an autographed movie poster as well as a “Thanks” from the director and "behind the scenes" videos.
Exploration, mystery, and adventure; all are guaranteed on your race around the world with the Century Club in Race to Adventure. This newest cardboard Kickstarter is a family-friendly adventure board game meant for 2-5 players and can be played in about 30 minutes. Heroes will race around the world armed with only a jetpack, a passport, and a lightning gun.
Two expansions will be made available to players should the game meet its $40K goal and $50K stretch goal. There’s talk of more goals too, so we can’t wait to see what comes of the continued support.
Reward: The HERO pack is yours for $40 which includes a copy of the game and PDFs of the series’ books.
