Atari 40th Anniversary Greatest Hits »

Atari is 40 years young as of June 27, 2012. For those among you readers who can remember owning an Atari 2600 console back in the '80s: do you feel old yet? I sure do. The company's changed hands a few times since those early days, of course, but the name has remained a constant over these past four decades.

The publisher confirms in a press release that celebration plans include a full year of promotions -- starting with the "40 Giveaways in 4 Days" sweepstakes -- all of which can be kept track of on the official Atari Facebook page. More announcements are promised for the coming weeks and months. For now, enjoy the brief 40th Anniversary video above and a slick infographic timeline showcasing the company's biggest moment, posted after the jump.
