Cheats and Walkthroughs
Minecraft is going to be following Arma 2 into the realm of persistent zombie world mayhem with an in-development mod that promises to replicate the core ideas of the fan-created DayZ mod in Mojang's blocky worlds. Redditor HighlifeTTU is working with a team on turning MineZ -- yes, that's the name -- into a real thing, complete with mechanics for thirst, a zombie awareness meter, improved zombie AI, and more. There are also plans to tweak the core Minecraft rules, since it's not exactly scary to fend off zombies in a world where building a to-scale replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise is a very real possibility.
If you haven't tried DayZ, it works like this: you sign onto a server -- any server, since your character's inventory, progress, and location are all persistent -- and attempt to survive in a zombie-infested world. You can gather & hoard supplies, link up with other human players, terrorize other human players, run around in circles until something eats your face off... anything. MineZ is looking to replicate that experience, and I'm all for it.
Find out more about this ambitious mod on HighlifeTTU's imgur page and on Reddit. According to the homepage, we're roughly a week away from "final release" for MineZ. Needless to say (but I'm gonna say it anyway), this mod will be exclusive to the PC/Mac versions of the game. It's all server-side stuff though, so you won't need to fiddle with Minecraft's tricky-ish modding process!
