The recently teased Call of Duty Elite premium content drop for Modern Warfare 3 is here, giving subscribers a collection of three new Face Off maps and a new mission for the game's Spec Ops mode. The official Call of Duty Content Calendar previously listed the June 2012 drop as including a new map, a new Spec Ops mission, and something marked "Classified," but it appears that those plans have changed.
The newly updated Modern Warfare 3 content calendar now correctly lays out the added content. Arctic Recon is the Spec Ops mission, which involves taking out a Russian battleship by planting beacons in preparation for an air strike. It seems that you'll also hop behind the controls of a recon chopper to reveal the location that each beacon must be planted.
The Face Off maps, which are exclusive to the game's recently added small-team multiplayer mode, are called Vortex, Intersection, and U-Turn. The setting for the first one is a rural farm while the other two offer more urban environments; Intersection unfolds in downtown New York City and U-Turn is set on a war-torn highway littered with wrecked cars. As always, this content is exclusive to Xbox 360-owning Elite subscribers for the time being.
