Smart Glass Announced - Official E3 2012 News

Microsoft's rumored tablet will apparently support Xbox Live streaming and will be released as part of the company's strategic partnership with Barnes & Noble, according to unnamed sources speaking to TechCrunch. We'll know one way or another later today when Microsoft's June 18, 2012 media event in Los Angeles kicks off at 3:30pm PST.

There's very little more to say about the reveal at this point. Rumors of a Microsoft tablet popped up late last week after the company sent out press invites touting a "major announcement" at today's event. The Barnes & Noble tie would make sense given that Microsoft entered into a partnership with the retailer earlier this year.

It's the possibility of Xbox Live-streaming support that is most exciting here, however; if the rumor is true, this tablet would be the first to offer anything more than the limited connectivity available via the My Xbox Live app. It would also certainly come along at an appropriate moment, what with Microsoft having just announced its SmartGlass initiative at E3 2012.
