The Last of Us begins in one of the last quarantined zones ruled by a military regime following the collapse of the US government. Likely as a result of an outbreak, Joel and Ellie must escape the quarantined zone and travel cross country through broken cities reclaimed by nature, meanwhile competing with other survivors for resources.
