LEGO The Lord of the Rings has been announced by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The blocky game will be developed by TT Games, the studio behind all of the other brilliant LEGO games to date. LEGO The Lord of the Rings will follow the original storylines of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Also known as my favorite movies ever.
Players will assume the role of Frodo and friends as they journey to Mordor in order to destroy The One Ring. Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir a Man of Gondor, and Frodo’s Hobbit friends Sam, Merry and Pippin will all be along for the ride. Players will get to, "explore wonders, solve timeless riddles, and overcome endless foes in their quest to destroy the Ring," according to WB.
And with LEGO The Lord of the Rings, new additions will be coming to the series, like a Blacksmith Shop where you can forge new items, and collectible weapons and items like the Light of Earendil, Elven rope, swords, and bows. The game will also feature dialogue from the films.
We got our hands on the game ahead of E3, and here's a snippet of what we had to say about it:
"Imagine battling deep with in the Mines of Moria as the hapless crew dodge and dive from the swinging club of a rather pestered cave troll. Gimli takes to the ground; axe swinging as he takes on any of the footmen below. LEGOlas lets loose a quiver from the back line. Frodo, one the other hand, does the best he can to tackle the troll the only way he knows how. It’s a scene we’ve played through time and time again, but with the LEGO games, it takes a new twist as well as brings something new to the epic series."
